I have looked at the "fragmented" census reports and you are right, there is nothing for Tennessee. I have been browsing while waiting for an answer, and yes, I do see some new to me things. Thanks, Betty. Ida
In which categories should we look for the new items? Ida
Have you ever run into small print on the internet -- or especially the census records and just wished you had larger print? -- well there is away you can -- I have received this several times through email and have tried it on email as well as on the web pages-- ( of course the fonts on ours, is very readable -- but some are really fine print :-) All you have to do to enlarge the print or make it smaller too is If you hold down the Ctrl key on your key board and then turn the small wheel in the middle of your mouse away from you or towards you, the print size will change - it will either get larger or smaller - depending on which way you turn the wheel. Try it. Betty ps thanks to Paula for asking me to put it on the list to help others .
well Ida, I didn't tell you that on purpose so every one could browse the web site and find all of the new and interesting items on there--LOL actually you might try the " PHOTOS OF SCHOOL GROUPS , PHOTOS OF AND ARTICLES ABOUT MARION COUNTY and PHOTOS OF OUR ANCESTORS sometimes we don't always tell you when we add items :-) Betty ----- Original Message ----- From: <[email protected]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Friday, March 03, 2006 7:49 AM Subject: Re: [TNMARION] new items on the web site | In which categories should we look for the new items? | | Ida | | | ==== TNMARION Mailing List ==== | *********************************************************************** | PLEASE NOTE: This list is for queries and replies, comments, | requests for help, and other genealogical related information | that is of interest to researchers having a connection or a | possible connection to Marion County, Tennessee. There is no | soliciting or advertising of any item or service for sale allowed. | Betty McBee - list administrator-- [email protected] . | Marion County Web Site: http://www.rootsweb.com/~tnmario2/ | *********************************************************************** | | ============================== | Search the US Census Collection. It is a well known historical fact that Davy Crockett is buried in Grant's Tomb (along with Jimmy Hoffa)! Has anyone have heard of a Burroughs Chapel? I know there is (or was) a Burroughs Cove and a Burketts Chapel in the Marion, Grundy and/or Sequatchie County areas and so I thought a Burroughs Chapel reference for an old obituary was a typo. But lately I have seen at least a couple of other references to a Burroughs Chapel in some older books like Births, Marriages and Deaths or maybe one of the Gossip books. Thought I would post this information below for those that are looking for other sources of help online. Genealogy Look Up Forum is a web site of volunteers who will do various types of look ups such as, Births, Deaths, Cemetery, Census, and Marriage. The site even has it own genealogy chat which is helpful to those wanting to get genealogy advice from a live person. The URL is below to visit this site. http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~genealogylookup/
George Lowery had a dairy in Richard City across the road from Richard Hardy Memorial School. He had a truck for delivery of milk, but the driver did not wear a uniform. At least my brother never when he delivered for Lowery's.
Thanks for the information.
