    3. Debbie, They are definitely not the Turners in Harlan County related to Devil Jim Turner. That is a reliable site and I sent it to Misty also. Yes, it was me she talked to. My Turners went through Marion County on the way to Arkansas, but they were from North Carolina so they are not these Turners either. If I don't hear from her on e-mail I have this printed out and will send it to her in the mail. At least you have the Turners now. 2. Darlene & Barbara You guys help so many people.. I no its impossible to keep track of all you have done in your searches... Months back..both of you helped me with Amanda and Thomas Martin... We looked at the census that showed Amanda and Thomas together in 1920..Sarah as Thomas's daughter...and Henreitta, William and Ernest as Turners... this is 1920 census Henreitta married Richard Powers, had 5 kids total...dortha, Annette, Thelma Lee and Nancy and last Charlie. Thelma and Nancy died.. I have their death records. Henreitta died June 26,1927 when Charlie was just months old.. Sarah died July 15, 1927 both died in Harlan, Ky. 1930 shows Charlie living with Thomas, Mandy, Ernest , Gladys and a Violet who I am assuming is another daughter to Thomas and Amanda.. Sense this time I have located who I think is a relative to William, spoke with Charlie's wife and been in contact with Richard Powers second set of kids. The relation to William is trying to help...she has told me she knows that Thomas and Amanda are buried in a cemetery on Orme Mnt in Tenn. Also told me Amanda died Jan 9 1951.She has given me a copy of Gladys obit..says Amanda Smith Martin was her mother... I know I have the correct family here because Charlie's wife confirmed Gladys and Ernest as family remember she had met. I have sent for Amanda's death record, hoping it will tell me something. As for Henreitta who is my mothers mom...I also see the divorced written on the 1920 census.. she was born in 1902..so if she did marry and divorce before 1920..she was probably in her late teens..in 1920 she would have been 17-18 I have Annette's, Charlie's birth records, Death record for Nancy, Thelma Lee, Henrietta, and Richard at this point...and they give more suspense tot he story...Thelma has mother listed as Etta Turner, Nancy's as Etta Martin Turner, Annette's birth certif has her listed as Etta Minter ( I am assuming this is a typo), Charlie has her listed as Henrietta Turner...Henrietta's death Richard lists her parents as Mandy and James Turner...sooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo all I can assume is Mandy was married three times or at least twice... the names Martin, Turner and Smith are associated with her at this point Henrietta may have been married and divorced before Richard All the children to Henrietta list Richard Powers as father.. I still need to get Dorthas birth certif... I am not sure if she was born in Ky or Tenn...as far as I can see all the other kids were born in Harlan Ky ..or close to that area... I am sure now you remember all the worked you have done...I just didn't want to waste your time looking at census on them again if not necessary...:) But if you find anything else I will gladly take the help!!! 3. Right now I am working on the Turner end of it and I think I found the Turners at this link: http://awt.ancestry.com/cgi-bin/igm.cgi?op=GET&db=bobbylee&id=I04197 Wash Turner's father was this Fielding Turner born abt. 1812 TN. I am going to go back as far as I can to find out if they could be my Turners. Now I remember working with you on this also and now Misty Fulfer called me and I thought I remembered not making much headway on it. The death certificates can be very misleading because they go by people's memories which are sometimes not to accurate. That is very confusing. 3. I found this birth record in Harlan County, KY Charlie W Powers 24 Jan 1927 Henrietta Turner Harlan She must have died in childbirth or shorty after. Charlie is in the HH of Thomas and Amanda Martin in 1930 listed as grandson. This also proves that Henrietta was a Turner. 2. Barbara Turner
    3. Darlene, This does make sense because I am sure Amanda was a Smith who married a Turner first then Thomas Martin. In the 1910 Census I think they have Henrietta as Henry age 6. So in 1920 she would be 16 and already married. No wonder I couldn't find them in 1920. I will find the 1920 Census and then I will find Henrietta's death certificate. I guess then we need to figure out which James Turner. My husband's Turners went through Marion County, TN on their way to AR and we think some of the family stayed in Marion County. If these Turners are related to the Harlan County Turners they could all be our Turners.
