    1. Re: [TNMADISO] James Henry Carothers
    2. Thanks so much Nancy for staying in touch. I'm still getting no where on the Carruthers line but still looking. I have seen some of Mr. Smith's records while there in Jackson but have not looked at them on the Madison Co. page. I have never heard of the Cartmell Diaries but will certainly check it out. I keep hoping something will show up somethere to connect my Susan L. to her parents. The next time I am there in Jackson I plan to go and search the court records more thoroughly. I've looked years ago but did not have time to do all that I wanted to do. I am particularly interested in the court records about the guardianship papers for Louisa, James W. and John Franklin Carruthers as minors in 1841 to Samuel Neeley. I have not found a connection between this Neeley and the Carruthers - if there is one. Samuel Neeley apparently moved to Madison Co in 1840. There is a record in Mecklenburg Co, NC of marriage of James Carruthers to Peggy Swan Neeley 3 Oct. 1809 so they may have been related since the Greers were also there. Wishfully thinking I guess, but you never know. Thanks again for the suggestion and the update. Barb
