A couple of things I have been meaning to bring to the list for some time (just to perk up some interest in names): 1st of all: To Jim Davis and other Croom researchers: Have any of you seen the book, Unpuzzling Your Past -- A Basic Guide to Genealogy by Emily Anne Croom??? I've had this book since I started this quest. She is researching the Croom family in Madison Co TN, TX and other places. When I first read this book, a particular name caught my eye: Pitser --- Which brings me to #2 It would be interesting to see how many Madison Co AREA researchers come up with the name Pitser. Pitser Herbert Jordan was my father. I always wondered where the name Pitser came from (after all --- His siblings -- as well as all 8 of my siblings (including myself) were named for someone in the family) --- and I hadn't found Pister as a family name. And then: While involved in the "search" I came across the name Pitser Miller....(forgive me if my memory is not quite right) I think in Madison Co/could be Hardeman --- he was a store owner -- seems to be a prominent business person in the late 1800's. And then I have run across all of these Pitser's -- besides Pitser Croom: Pitser Anderson, Pitser Blaylock, Pitser Miller Robinson, Pitser Crawford, and the list goes on to include these surnames: Franklin, Galdon, Goldern, Stevens, McNeal, Yarbrough, Rainer, Roberts, Sammons, Vaughn, Anderson, and Crawford just to name a few. I apologize for not having the correct info on Pitser Miller - I read it some time ago and do not have notes on him. Maybe one of the Miller researchers can help us out. I just thought it a researchers puzzle and found it quite amusing to see so many boys (men) named Pitser…..and just to add another sense of humor --- my mother's name was Alcienia !!! and have only came across it while researching the Chumbley Take care !
