Dear List: Sorry to repeat myself, but I thought read a few of your posts and thought I'd better clarify. These are the names I'm working on in Madison/Henderson/Chester Co. and I remembered a couple more: My KING family originally came from NC way before the Civil War. (don't know exactly when but after 1829). They settled in TN in Henderson and Chester Counties, but could have been in Madison. I don't know anything about the family before the Civil War. David KING served in the 51st Inf. out of Chester/Henderson Co. His son, John Parish KING married Nannie GILES (her family from Madison Co.--formally from Williamson Co.) and they settled in the Beech Bluff Community. Her family (father: Claiborne GILES) gave part of their land to build the Liberty Methodist Church and Cemetery and therefore lived next to the church until the mid-1900's. The name Parish or Parrish has always been a puzzle to me. Does anyone know where my husband's g-grandparents might have gotten this name to use as the middle name for their oldest son? My Madison Co. names are: GILES, KING, HODGE, DUDLEY,MAGUFFIN,BOLEJACK, LAMASTERS (I forgot a few before). We have one HARRIS in the family. My Madison and Henderson/Chester Co. (those counties split along with Madison Co and our people lived in the area that was moved from one county to another) surnames are: KING, BRADFORD,WHITEHEAD,GILES, BROWNING,HARDIN(G) "Unknown relationship" to GILES, but many listed as close relatives in the family Bible, is the name of POLK. If you know of the relationship of POLK to GILES, HODGE or BOLEJACK, I have lots of names and dates to share. There are 13 POLKs listed in the Claiborne Young GILES/HODGE family Bible. Names ring any bells with any of you? Nan Gaither, San Diego, CA
