Nan: I went to the Memphis Public Library site and found the following concerning lookups. History Genealogy Travel and Social Sciences Department Correspondence Librarian 3030 Poplar Avenue Memphis TN 38111-3527 E-mail: [email protected] Requesting Articles and Obituaries from Local Newspapers Our newspaper microfilm collection is open for the public to come in and research. If you want an article or obituary mailed outside of the county, the reference service fee applies ($25.00 per hour; $5.00 shipping and handling). Even when the date of death is known the reference fee is charged because of the time required locating the obituary in the Memphis newspapers. Make your check or money order payable to Memphis/Shelby County Public Library & Information Center. To request an article, please send your payment and a letter detailing your request to the Correspondence/Librarian at the History Department address given above.
