Hugh DeLapp was born c1780 in VA/NC, married Lucy Daniel c1801 in Rowan co.,NC. Moved to Madison/Gibson Co.,TN c1831, he died there 1841-1850, last in the census of 1840. Children: Daniel DeLapp b. 1812 Rowan co.,NC married 2x, 1st to Fannie West & had 4 children: 1.Harrison Woods DeLapp who married Mary Anne Sinks, he died 1863 in the Civil War. 2.Lucy DeLapp b. 1836 in Madison Co.,TN & died 7/26/1864 in Madison Co.,TN while visting relatives. Her husband William Trask was away in the war when Lucy died. They had married in 1858 & moved to New Orleans, LA 3.William DeLapp . 1837, no further info 4. Hugh DeLapp b. 1839 Madison Co.,TN. MD of Gibson Co.,TN, bio in Goodspeed's History of Tennessee 1887, maried Mollie Moore & had 3 children. 2nd wife of Daniel DeLapp was Sarah Long, they married 1849 in Carroll co.,MS & had 3 children: Evans long DeLapp b. 1849 George Washington DeLapp b. 4/7/1850 (my ancestor) m.1872 to Ida Laws & had 11 children John Fletcher DeLapp b. 7/1/1853 Daniel DeLapp d. 1867 in Carroll Co.,MS. His siblings were: Anderson DeLapp b. 1813, in Madison Co.,TN 1850. Nelson DeLapp b. 12/1816 , living Gibson Co.,TN in 1900, his wife Addie died 1881-1900. Had 3 children: Anderson b. 1875, Kate b.2/1877 & Robert DeLapp b. 3/1880. Lucy Temperence DeLapp b. 7/1822, died after 1900 Gibson co.,TN, was living w/ her brother Nelson as the widow of Joshua Gardner. Also listed in the 1850 census w/ Anderson & Nelson DeLapp were Jane DeLapp b. c 1829 & Norman DeLapp b. c1834. I believe Lucy Daniel , wife of Hugh DeLapp, would have been too old for these to be her children. Not sure who they are. Any help w/ this family appreciated! Cindy
