I finally finished recording the middle section of the white section of Providence Cemetery yesterday. It will be a few days before I get it typed and online. The final web page probably will be the equivalent of 50 pages of typing. In one way this cemetery was a first for me. I took a shovel and dug up some fragments I could see in the north drive. I don't think the grassy north drive was planned. I think over the years vehicles have driven into the cemetery, originialy weaving around markers and eventually knocking them over and breaking them. There are many damaged markers to either side of the drive. The digging revealed four markers not reported previously: Two fragments fit together: "Will___" and "H. H." My guess is this is the name William H. H. When pieced together they form the top of a marker with the same width and thickness as a nearby fragment with the death date April 4, 1858. Another fragment dug out of drive: Joel S., son of J. F. and H. W. Chandler, born Sept. 4, 186_. Fragment found just south of drive: John K. Jones, died ____ 10, 1861. Matching a fragment dug out of drive with fragment found in pile of broken markers and removed footstones: Geo. W. Pipkin, Son of G. P. & M. Pipkin, May 4, 1865-Sept. 9, 1865. David
