But I dont remember a lot. Going through some papers, I did remember that he once told me he was named after a friend of his fathers who told him that he would educate any son of his who was named after him. This didnt happen, but could possibly be because of the conditions in Tenn. at the time Absolom was ready to be educated. Civil War and Reconstruction messed up a lot of plans. II will email you more when I have a chance, but I do have President Preslye(sic) to Allen DeBery(sic) - WD Book 28. 11-5-1870, T-97 acres Forked D. River. Filed 3-28-71 AndPresident Presley to Allen DeBerry WD Book31. 8-27-72. I find Allen DeBerry as a Private in the 55 Browns Tenn. Infantry in the Civil War. This was an outfit made up of mostly Madison Co men.The real estate tranactions are from the County records of Madison Co. Tenn. However, if President had that much real estate, I dont know why he needed someone to finance the education of a son. Also have will of Elizabeth DeBerry of Madison Co. She has son named Absolom DeBerry and also one named Allen DeBerry. Dated July 6, 1846. I find those land transaction in District 7, but know nothing more about that. There were lots of DeBerrys and Presleys in Anson Co, NC, also...but I dont have anything of real value there. Worth looking into more, The DeBerry name is interesting to me also. I had an uncle with the middle name of DeBerry and he has a living daughter with the middle name of DeBerry. More later. Margaret
