Hi Diane, I've been to the Nashville archives twice and was more impressed with the library in Memphis. This was basically due to convenience. Parking is a real problem in Nashville, so plan on getting there early so you can get a good parking spot. The archives only has about 10 paid on street parking spots, otherwise you may have to park in a parking deck about 4 blocks away. Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't think they have Union soldier's pension records there. I did, however, obtain a pension ap for my Confederate guy while I was there. Another problem is the microfilm viewers and copiers. Almost all the copies I made while there were not very good quality. I've decided I'm much better off to order whatever film I want and look at it at my local FHC where I can make quality copies at a cheaper price. Also, expect to be searched before you go in and before you leave. I didn't even get this treatment from the Federal archives in Chicago! I guess the dishonest few have taken away the freedoms of the honest. :o( I have about 10 or so CDs....mostly TN records that I purchased from Heritage Quest and I have been very satisfied with all of them. They are good quality and easy to view but they are not indexed like FTM CDs. I've only ordered one set of CDs from FTM and they were very poor quality and it wasn't because the original microfilm was of poor quality either. I've been very reluctant to order any more from FTM. Hope this helps. Sandra PS Lucky you, I wish I had the Memphis library nearby! :o) >From: [email protected] >Reply-To: [email protected] >To: [email protected] >Subject: [TNMADISO] Questions >Date: Thu, 21 Mar 2002 17:20:39 EST > >Greetings to ALL, > >I have a couple of questions for anyone. > >Has anyone been to Nashville researching for Madison County records?
