Yeeeaaaaaa! J H Roach, Shoemaker (John Harrison) is my great great grandfather, I am decended from him through his son William Leonoduz. William Leonoduz Roach was also a shoe maker and I have original pictures of 'Roach's Shoe Shop' c1925 with him and John Franklin Roach (his son) in it together. I also have a few copies of their shoe advertisements. The Wm. Roach in the directory was most likely my great grandfather. I remember my grandmother talking of him. There are some stories there. The only thing I have on John's parents is that his father's first initial was M. and his mother's name was Eliza, does this look familiar to anyone? John married Sarah E. Payne, daughter of William B. Payne and Nancy Ann Kizer. J. H. Roach appears as a Confederate Pensioner for 1914 in Alcorn County, Mississippi He was allowed pension. Records of this are in the Alcorn, Mississippi Library. As you read on, in 1915, J. H. Roach left the state, therefore pensions ceased. John and Sarah had five children that I know of. They are buried in Booneville Cemetery, Mississippi and Henry Cemetery in Corinth. If anyone would like more information, I would love to talk to ya'll!
