    2. Barb: You and I corresponded some time ago re: the John C. Greer - Susan Carruthers family. I don't have anything new to add, except to suggest a thorough check of the Works of Jonathan KT Smith that is online at the Madison Co GenWeb site, if you haven't already. I, of course, checked family names in the index. I found so much information re: the families that interacted with my families, by reading through a volume or two. The Cartmell Diaries are a really good source for details of family in that time period. Good luck with your search and I'll be sure to send any new Carutthers finds along. My special concern is finding the family of Susan L. Carruthers who married John C. Greer and lived in the Jackson area. Researching on my own, I do not believe Susan L. is a daughter of James Caruthers or related to Stoddard Caruthers, although James had a daughter Susan Medora b. Sept. 1838, dd. 13 June 1888. Does anyone have information about this Susan L. Carruthers Greer? Susan was born in 1822 and her place of birth is shown on census records as Indiana. Do you have any information about a John Carruthers who I believe died in Madison Co ca 1840. Susan may have had brothers James W. and John Franklin Carruthers. Any information would be very much appreciated. Barb >>
