A couple of weeks ago the question came up about where people who lived in Beech Bluff would be buried. In reading Jonathan Smith's 1914-1916 death certificate abstracts, the most frequent place of burial listed for people who died at Beech Bluff is Big Springs http://www.tngenweb.org/madison/cemetery/bigsp.htm David
http://www.tngenweb.org/madison/smith/deathc1-1.htm Jonathan Smith's abstracts of Madison County death certificates 1914-1924 were part of his comprehensive study of Riverside Cemetery. I have uploaded 1914 and probably will upload 1915 later tonight. http://www.accessgenealogy.com/worldwar/tennessee/madison1.htm This web page lists Army and Air Force World War II casulties from Madison Co. It is a blatent come-on for a pay-to-use web site so I will not link this file to the genweb page, but I thought I would at least tell you about it. David
David, you have shared a wealth of information to all of us on the Madison County List. We all appreciate your time and efforts in collecting the cemetery transcriptions and uploading the information for all of us to use. Thank you for all of your hard work. Know that you will be missed. Warmest Regards, Carolyn Menges Researching: GOODWIN, McKINNEY, BROWNING, HARRELL, GARRETT, WARDROP, FOREMAN, WHITTEKIEND, HILL, POWELL, SHELTON, HUMPHREYS, COCKRELL, MENGES, HATCHER
David, I am so sorry that you are resigning. You have done a wonderful job and I'm sure we all appreciate your efforts. Nelda from Phx. Az
I have resigned as CC of Madison County TNGenWeb. The immediate reason is a personal indiscretion of a mail list, but I was planning to place Madison County up for adoption in June anyway. I will continue uploading files at least until a new CC is chosen. I would like to continue working on Jonathan Smith's materials after that. My family is from and I live in Decatur County. When I played with genealogy, it was with families in Decatur and Henderson counties. I have largely ignored Henderson and Decatur counties since I took over Madison County TNGenWeb in late 2001. In 2001 I already had some Madison Co. materials on another web site and I figured I could move those files and do 3-4 Jonathan Smith work each year. I have ended up spending a lot more time on Madison Co. I don't regret it, I have enjoyed it, and I will continue. At the same time, there is a sense of guilt. December 2003-March 2004 I worked on Decatur and Henderson Co. cemeteries. I felt guilty the whole time for ignoring Madison Co. I feel CCs should try to help visitors to genweb sites, but I have never even tried, primarily because of my lack of knowledge. Every time I respond to an email telling the person to repost their question to the query board or genforum I feel guilty. Resigning gets rid of the sense of guilt. To prove I am still around, I uploaded pages 9-14 of Jonathan Smith's "My Riverside Cemetery Tombstone Incrpription Scrapbook II." I am working on pp. 15-19 now. David

TN in 1956, email the Tennessee Room at the Jackson/Madison Co. TN library and ask if there are copies of telephone directories for 1956, if so, ask for lookup. Might also ask them to check their family files for J.E. Lindsey, also looking for an obituary or funeral record for her. Use www.google.com to search for the library or go to www.usgenweb.org, click state, find TN, find Madison Co, there is a link to the library on Madison Co. TN website. Also, there were a lot of Lindsey's in Henderson Co. TN, which adjoins Madison Co. TN. Could be she married a Lindsey who had migrated from Henderson Co. TN to Jackson, TN. Hope this helps you. Linda
