David, I can't help but wonder if we are to blame for your leaving the Madison Co. List. You have been an absolute wonder to many of us who have been researching our families from Madison County. I can't tell you how much you/ve helped me in finding information about our family, especially through your cemetery transcriptions. I am one of those who has visited your sites more than once and have not always thanked you for your perseverance and diligence in cataloging the cemeteries in Madison Co. Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! I would never have found some of the family without your help. Blessings to you in whatever you do. ~ Carolyn Menges
Is this part of the Rogers family that was earlier in Pitt which was formed out of Beaufort Co NC in the 1700's?? Teri

One of these days I need to learn to type. The correct address for the Nashville Christian Advocates is www.tngenweb.org/records/davidson/index.html#nca David
I have erased my name on the index page for Madison County. The new host is being sent a password and will be taking over. Here is something I should have done this 31 months ago. On May 10 I finally placed counters on three of the pages. On May 15 I added a 4th counter. Between May 15 and May 23, the What's New page was accessed 252 times by 123 users. (I got my first email asking about the missing What's New 30 minutes after delinking the page.) Between May 10 and May 23, the index page was accessed 1244 times by 603 users, the cemetery page was accessed 739 times by 206 users, and the Smith page (with NCAs) was accessed 716 times by 237 users. At records, most return links will not work. I will be deleting these in the next few days. If you find crosslinks which do not work let me know. They are harder to find. And some time I will get back to the east section of Antioch Cemetery. If you had a bookmark to a particular file www.tngenweb.org/madison/subdirectory/file.xxx the new address in most cases should be www.tngenweb.org/records/madison/subdirectory/file.xxx A number of small files people had donated to Madison County (especially wills and deeds) were not moved to records. These files will go to Rootsweb. I have copies of thes files and can upload them to records if the people who donated these materials ask me to do so. If you used the Nashville Christian Advocated, they are now at www.tngenweb.gor/records/davidson/index.html#nca David
I do not keep address books because of virus problems and not not archive email. Sometime I regret that. If Fran Marlow is reading this, may I move the Clanton, Hart-Dickens, and Hicks cemeteries to Records. David Donahue ddonahue@netease.net
www.tngenweb.org/records/madison/ As I mentioned, the new CC for will move Madison County to Rootsweb. The files I have done were supposed to belong to TNGenWeb. Every cemetery I have recorded (about 80) and every data file that I chose to do such as the Cisco history and Biographical Directory of the Tennessee General Assembly are now at the address above. Every file that had a copyright (including all of Jonathan Smith's material) are now in TNGenWeb records. I erased the links to Search. It will not be possibe to search Madison County any time soon. I will try to add searches to the files at Records once TNGenWeb does the next search crawl. The What's New, 2003 Additions, and 2002 Additions pages have been delinked. If the pages are ever reused, all the links will have to be rewritten. I have not checked the revised index pages at either Madison County TNGenWeb or at Madison County records. Most cross links in files are broken. I will be deleting bad return links next week. David

I had hoped that someone on this maillist would adopt Madison County. I had sort of hoped to have continued working with the new host. However, that is not to be. My intention was that when I left, I would leave all the files to TNGenWeb. The new County Coordinator will be moving Madison County to Rootsweb. I am moving all the cemeteries I recorded, everything with a copyright (Hanna, Smith, Griffith, Gen. Soc.), and a few other items I created to TNGenWeb Records. Several people have donated cemeteries, wills, deeds and other items to Madison County. Unless you ask me otherwise within the next day or so, these donated items will be included in the move to Rootsweb. I have enjoyed working with Madison County. I will still work on some Jonathan Smith items. David ddonahue@netease.net
http://www.tngenweb.org/madison/cemetery/antioch.htm I recorded Antioch Cemetery in north Madison County this weekend. I have posted the older North Section. It will take me a while to type the remainder, especially the East Section. David
Thank you David I appreciate it . Tela

I'm trying to find someone who could get me a picture of my aunt's headstone there will glady pay for their gas, time and the picture. Reply: Hollywood Cemetery is not online. Recording the markers, typing the information, checking it, and making web pages would involve more work that was required for all the cemeteries currently online. I estimate 1,800 person-hour which may be too low. In 1988 the Mid-West Tennessee Genealogical Society and Jackson-Madison County Homecoming '86 Steering Committee published "Records of Hollywood Cemetery," which is available in the Tennessee Room of the Jackson-Madison County Library. This volume is based on records in the cemetery office and covers burials through about 1985. An update through 2003 has been compiled. The Hollywood Cemetery book and the update might still be available for purchase. Contact Sandra Kelly E-mail: skelly@usit.net or Write to: Mid-West TN Genealogical Society P.O. http://www.tngenweb.org/madison/cemetery/pleas-h.htm Frequently people will emal questions to me. The most dreaded question will involve Pleasant Hill Cemetery. Every time I have had an inquiry about Pleasant Hill Cemetery, the sender has never identified WHICH Pleasant Hill Cemetery. I have just uploaded the 4th Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Madison County. It is on Mifflin Road. The other three are in the Beech Bluff, Gilmore, and Medon communities. The three active Pleasant Hill cemeteries have been updated within the past year. There are two Pleasant Hill cemeteries in Henderson County. The white Pleasant Hill is the second largest cemetery in western Henderson County. The black Pleasant Hill is the largest all-black cemetery in Henderson County. The Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Decatur County is the third largest cemetery in the county. David

You might try the Memphis Commercial Appeal. They carried a lot of West TN news, and have papers that old.
