One was Charles Fredrich Wilde who emigrated to U.S. in 1854 with Ulricka, to avoid having to go in the Kaiser's army. He was in Madison County, TN by early 1860s probably--his wife, Mary--who was from Saxony, Germany was born in 1843. August Wilde, Ulricka's & Charles' younger brother, born in 1851, also came to Madison County, TN when he came to U.S. Both August & Charles F. Wilde were engineers for the big railroad there in Jackson, TN. August passed away in 1901, Charles passed away in 1872. Both August & Charles served in Confederacy. The Wildes were from "Coplin by Giltso, Prussia" near Stettin. Their parents owned a dairy farm up near the Baltic Sea, and the Oder River. Charles F. & Mary Walsh left a no. of children: Lessa Dale Wilde, Hattie Manley Wilde, Lena Wilde, Charles F. Wilde--who passed away in 1923. Lizzie O. Jennings who passed away in 1937! , Albert A. Wilde who passed away in 1945, Jesse Huber, DOD 1891 (The latter may have been a relative--a few of the above may have been in-laws.) August was a Mason and Charles F. Wilde, Jr. was a Mason as I recall. William J. Wilde DOD 1938, was a descendant, as were Charles T. Wilde, DOD 1982; Mary W. Todd-DOD 1996 and Elizah B. Wilde-DOD 1959. One direct descendant in Madison Co. became an attorney. Would like to get in touch with direct descendants of my g-grandmother's brother. Any clues appreciated. Thanks. P.S. Tried to find e-mail address and phone no. for Madison Co. Historical Society with no luck.
http://www.tngenweb.org/records/davidson/nda76/nda76-01.htm For those who like Jonathan Smith works, Betty Finley is transcribing "Nashville Daily American, 1876, A Genealogical Scrapbook." The first 15 pages and index are online. Two of the items related to Madison County are: pp.6-7, biographical sketch of William Henry Stephens of Jackson pp. 9-10, complete article about the hanging in Jackson of Milton McLean for the murder of Thadeus Pope David

http://www.tngenweb.org/records/madison/riverside/mrc7-01.htm The Riverside Scrapbook Part VII is finished. The scrapbooks are cross-linked with "Tombstone Inscriptions in Historic Riverside Cemetery in Jackson, Tennessee" so that you can click on a link in in the Tombstons Inscriptions and go to more information about that person or family in the scrapbooks. If this is the only way you have visited the Scrapbooks you may be missing something. Tombstone Inscriptions is just that. It is a record of markers recorded by Jonathan Smith in the 1990s, or previously in 1975 or 1937. You have to hunt them down, but the Scrapbooks provide some names of people buried in Riverside Cemetery in unmarked or unidentified graves. The Scrapbooks really deserve a visit in their own right. I may eat these words later, but I have finished recording Madison County cemeteries for good. If someone else wished to do more, here is a list of cemeteries most in need of an update. Bemis would be the top priority. There is a 10-year old record online at a private web site, but it is split into multiple pages with photos, graphics, music, etc. For anyone with a dial-up modem connection like me the web pages take so long to download that the cemetery it is nearly inaccessible. I always have to get the book to look up anything there. Other cemeteries in the cemetery book for the southern half of the county most in need of updating are East Laurel Cemetery, the white Oak Grove Cemetery in the Westover community, and the white Clover Creek Cemetery in Medon (shown at wrong location on map in book). Cemeteries in the cemetery book for the northern half of the county most in need of updating are Bethel, Calvary, and Pleasant Plains. I really meant to do Calvary but I just never got around to it. Malesus didn't cease being a high school until spring (May or June) of 1956. It continues to operate as an elementary school. Call Malesus School at 423-0634 and inquire about the old high school records and pictures. Or call the central office of the Jackson-Madison Co. School System at 664-2500 and ask about the old school records. ----- Original Message ----- From: <jhmatth12@aol.com> To: <TNMADISO-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Saturday, June 19, 2004 12:03 PM Subject: [TNMADISO] Malesus School Records > This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. > > Surnames: Diggs > Classification: Query > > Message Board URL: > > http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/JgB.2ACE/1084 > > Message Board Post: > > My mother graduated from Malesus School, probably about 1941; she had also gone to Parkburg School near Pinson, Tn. in Madison County. Thanks for trying. I think he actually died in 1870, but as you probably already know, that census was horrible, and you didn't list 1870 as one of those years that you had. http://www.tngenweb.org/records/madison/cemeteries/parkburg.htm I needed a binder and pulled a 1/2-inch vinal binder out from under one of the piles of clutter in my work room. I have several of these binders because I use them when recording cemetery markers, as was the case with this particular binder because inside were five cemeteries which I had recorded in April and promptly forgotten. One of the five cemeteries was Parkburg. I think last winter somebody on this list wanted that cemetery. The other four cemeteries are nearby (Bear Creek Nanney, Parker, Rogers). It is not like me to forget cemeteries, loose them yes, but not forget them. I know I recorded them after April 9 the latest death date at Parkburg. All I can think is that I did them just before Maple Springs which I started on April 30. Trying to update Maple Springs by row was a nightmare. I have been back to check two discrepanies at Parkburg and to photograph the Garner marker at Rogers. I will type Rogers tonight. David
