Bobby; Thanks for the information--this is important to know for all who search and don't find their ancestors' gravesites. In more than one of these older cemeteries there were people buried for whom there is no grave marker. Dear Diane: The Liberty Grove church is a good clue! A lot of folks w/ last names matching those in the Hart journal are buried at Liberty Grove. A few of them I listed below. These are ones I'm related to. I would venture to guess that the "sisters" referred to is a form of a title, such as "sister Anna" or "sister Jones" which was used in some churches in the old days. I'm guessing at this, but as most of the names on the list were names found at the Liberty Grove cemetery, it would be logical. Anyone else have an idea in regard to this? I know the Lucinda Shaw mentioned is Lucinda Shaw Johnson, wife of Merrit Johnson, "mother of Addie & James" listed below. Lucinda was born in 1836 and married Johnson in 1876, so she would have been a Shaw in 1865-69. It is a treasure that you have, and I appreciate you posting it to the list. I would love a CD , and would be glad to pay the costs for it. Email me off list re: it. [email protected] Thanks Diane! Nancy, This small ?? journal belonged to James Pleasant Hart b 1827 NC d. 1879 in Madison Co. The dated entries all appear to be from 1865-69. There is NO connection biologically to any of these ladies to my knowledge. Socially ??? In some of his things I have found record keeping of Liberty Grove Church. Possibility?? I just doubt if they are all blood kin. You are right there is an Allison connection but it came years later. James' son Guy Pleasant Hart b. 1873 married Judy Mainord in 1896 and Judy's grandmother on her father's side of the family was an Allison, BUT they were neighbors even back in the 1860's. I would not call it a diary. It is like a pocket calculator ...... lots of long division, adding, and such, used for note taking ....... lots of pages where it will say for example .... sold bacon to Thomas Littlepage 50 pounds $8.00. Or like the Mullins reference that I previously posted. I just thought it so neat to see some of the surnames we see doing Madison County research with SISTERS at the top of the page underlined. I saved an image of the sisters page on a CD if you would like it sent to you. Diane
Diane, My Joseph Johnson had a daughter named Nancy born in 1815. She would have been about 50 in 1865. This Nancy Johnson could also have been a granddaughter. He had many children. Ray Garland

James Neely Thompson Carter Frederick Mayo JesseArmstead Harrison Johnson These names appear on the 1840 census in this order, same page. In 1850 they are on the same page again the order is: Harrison Johnson must be the son age 27 b. TN Jesse Armstead 55 b. VA Frederick Mayo 70 b. NC Thomas Carter 42 b. VA James Neely 46 b. Dear Diane: This is very intriguing to me as I have some Johnsons I can't find much about, and Allison was a family name that ew're related to,as well as Lucinda Shaw, who I believe married Merritt Johnson, son of James ("Fiddler Jim" )Johnson. Which Hart did this diary belong to, and is it known if the Hart who wrote this was connected, bilogically or socially to these ladies? Thanks! A. News(o/u)m You have to understand sometimes the handwriting is VERY hard to read. Now if they were blood kin sisters or maybe sisters thru a circle or a church group or perhaps it was the Southern Belles Country Club. .......... LOL. I don't know!! Just thought it interesting. This book was being used, it looks like, 1865-69. Also, written in the book a couple of times and I thought interesting. Repentence is the turning away from tips and shadows.

Folks, under the subject Re: [TNMADISO] Boon/ Lacy I posted several Lucretia Lacys that I have in my data. After checking I find I had a terrible error and do not have a clue as to how it happened. Jeanette, I have a complete book on the Dickson family and I know that part of them lived in Madison and Chester counties. I looked for your two names and need more information to find them. They may be listed without their wives. I would be glad to do look ups for you in the book. My ancestor's second marriage was to Isabel Dickson in Madison County. The family came from Pennsylvania by way of North Carolina. Connie
Thanks Becky! I knew if anyone could sort this out, you could!!! Sheri
