    2. Krueger
    3. Hello my friendly Tennessee friends! I am searching the family of Florence Tobitha Vantreese. She is my great grandmother and I cannot seem to find a definent on her parents. She was born in 1876 and passed away in 1958. She married my great grandfather Samuel Howell Baxter 12/28/1893 in Jackson, Madison County, Tennessee. I have a picture that was taken c. 1937 with my mother in her lap. I placed this on my website www.cathiebeth.com This link will take you directly to the Family Baxter directory http://www.cathiebeth.com/Baxterfamilyphotopage.html. The best photo of Florence is under the Misc. Family link. If anyone that sees her recognizes her, please help! Under Ellis Baxter's page, there is a picture of my mother's fifth birthday party. There are about thirty children and the names were written on the back of the picture, and appear under the picture on the website. This picture was taken somewhere around the holidays in 1941. 2. Poor House Lady
    3. We would like to invite you to re-visit our website, The POORHOUSE STORY (a clearinghouse for information about 19th century American poorhouses) at http://www.poorhousestory.com We just posted some historical notes about the MADISON County poorhouse. DIRECTIONS: At the homepage (link above) click on POORHOUSES BY STATE, then on TENNESSEE on the table of states. If you will scroll down in the section on LOCAL NOTES, you will see the entry (with a yellow NEW arrow). (NOTE: If you have visited the site recently, you may have to click on REFRESH on your browser to see the new information.) There are other pages on the site which may give you some interesting perspective on poorhouses. They are off the homepage and include: the HISTORY page and the LETTER TO GENEALOGISTS as well as FEATURED ARTICLES. There are great tips for researching poorhouse records for yourself on the RECORDS page; and you might want to subscribe to our (almost) monthly newletter (which you can do in the lower right corner of the homepage). The information on our site will only grow through the submissions of generous readers. If you would like to e-mail me ... please do so off-list because I cannot maintain subscriptions to as many lists as we post messages on. (You can use an e-mail link off one of our web pages.) We hope you enjoy the site! Thanks, Linda Crannell (aka=The Poorhouse Lady)
