As far as I know Sarah is a brick wall for all of us. Family records say that she was a descendant of Jonathan Johnston, who served in the Revolutionary War. I am also researching another set of Johnsons/Johnstons connected with Madison County, TN. Did you see the query that I posted to this list on Monday, February 18th? Still searching for any information on Martin Luther Moore and wife, Mary Elizabeth Dawes, along with any of their children. Last found on the 1870 Madison Co., TN., census. Where did they go, or did they all die? In 1870 they were living in the 10th district, page 242, next door to S. Moore (Stephen) and wife Sarah (Duffey), his parents. Martin L. and wife Mary (Dawes) had two children in 1870; a daughter, "M" age 6 (probaby named either Mary or Martha, after her sister) and one son, "J", age 1 (likely named James, after his brother or her grandfather). Martin Luther Moore was born about 1840, in TN., and wife Mary Elizabeth Dawes was born bwt. 1842 and 1843, in TN., the daughter of Willaim Dawes and Mariah Todd. What happened to this family? Any help appreciated! Christi [email protected]
Seeking information about the parents, siblings, and descendants of Thomas JOHNSTON/JOHNSON who died in Madison County c1835. His estate settlement stated that their were ten heirs, and the following were named: Martha, wife, Stephen JOHNSTON, William HUNNELL, Samuel ADAMS, and Homer DARBY. Stephen married Danie/Dincy JONES (maybe his second wife), daughter of Beverly JONES of Carroll County, Tennessee; Sarah married Homer Newton DABRY, Elizabeth married Samuel ADAMS, Martha Ann married Ollin WEST. Stephen, the DARBYS, and WESTS moved to Arkansas. Any help would be appreciated.

Hi Diane: There were Giddeons that went to South Side, but I don't think we had any by the name Gideon. Could this be one of those surname spelling nightmares? I will look through all the school annuals I have and get back with you. By the way, I went to the new Memphis Library today and I couldn't believe it. It is magnificent.
