Cathie: Vantreese Cemetery is located 2 1/2 miles Southwest of Pinson and three quarters of a mile off Casey Road. That would be very close to the Chester/Madison County line. I have a listing of the people buried there if you need that information. Wanda At 10:14 AM 3/12/02 -0600, you wrote: >Does anyone know the location of the Vantreese farm in Pinson? Dixie, After looking over David's map of the site, I think I kown how he has it laid out. We did forge into the old part, the gate was open. Isn't very good walking was a little muddy. Lot of 1800 and early 1900 graves. Several graves are covered by some large trees that have been uprooted. And yes, if you are facing the back of the church it is to your right. I belive Section 1 is directly in back of the church, Section 2 is directly behine 1, and Section 3 is to the left. I anyone thinks I have it incorrect let me know. I'm going back in a week or so. I am also unclear if beyond the fence is part of the black cemetery. Hello Listers: I believe there was a typo in a listing in the excerpts from the Jackson Gazette, No. 6, Vol. 1, July 3, 1824, found at the Tn GenWeb site, www.tngenweb.org/madison/records/gazette.htm . The excerpt reads, "Died yesterday at father's residence in this county of a pulmonary consumption Doctor WM. K. PENNER, in 28th year of age, late of N.C." I think the name PENNER might be Dr. William K.FENNER, who was the son of Dr. Richard FENNER, and the brother of ANNE McKINNEY FENNER HENDERSON, wife of THOMAS HENDERSON. I had ordered the microfilm of JKT SMith's “Reported Deaths in 19th cent. Jackson TN” and copied the data from it, and in the microfilm, this entry read FENNER. If someone has info re: the PENNER mentioned, I gladly welcome the correction. Nancy Noel

Does anybody know what this part of the cemetery that Becky is talking about is? I was at the cemetery and was curious about this part, too. I wanted to scale the fence and check it out but decided, another day. I am sure it is the same section that Becky is talking about. I do not know my N, S, E, and W, but if you are in the cemetery and facing the back of the church it is to your right just the other side of the nice big fence. When I was there it was, too, very unkept and would be barely walkable, AND looked to be very old. I read what David had to say about the cemetery and I am unclear ............ is this section an old part of Brown's or part of the black cemetery, or ?????. Good luck Becky on finding your grave. I know, that big of a cemetery can be a bit overwhelming. Have a great one!! Diane
