Diane, I know that you can go to the TN Office of Vital Records in Nashville and they can pull records while you wait. These are more recent records and there is a charge for the copies, but it's better than waiting 6 weeks or more by mail if you need documentation from the last century. Here's their site: http://www.state.tn.us/health/vr/ There are probably more records for Middle TN in the Nashville library, where JMCL is concentrated more on West TN, although JMCL has been ENORMOUSLY helpful in my research. I know my local library in Columbus OH has been VERY helpful for statewide research of OH because it is the capital. I have had difficulty in reading some census images on Ancestry.com too. Their indexing of these images leaves something to be desired (it is a very difficult job, but sometimes the inaccuracy of simple page numbering makes me want to scream). Heritage I've not used much, but I can highly recommend the 1900 census images at Genealogy.com. Very very clear, large images and well indexed for everyone I've looked up. The only complaint I have is that I haven't figured out how to narrow the search by county. Lisa __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Yahoo! Greetings to ALL, I have a couple of questions for anyone. Has anyone been to Nashville researching for Madison County records? Is it worth it? I will be going thru there next week and was wondering what they have that JMCL does not have or the library here in Memphis. In particular and I ahve looked over their web site for an answer but was wondering ....... can you view and copy Civil War pension applications and widows applications on site. According to what they have listed on the web as far as Madison County holdings was slim or I was looking in the wrong place. Another thing ........ has anyone purchased CD censuses from Heritage Quest? Are they easy to use and view? Are the images of good quality? I know I have tried to use Ancestry.com census records and did not have much luck, or I was viewing poor images, or both. Have a great one, Diane
I would be glad to search for you, please contact me at [email protected]
