Hi fellow researchers, Last fall, someone posted the email address to the genealogical unit of the library at Madison Co. where you can write and request a lookup (for example, a obituary). I wrote to them and they sent me two pieces of information by snail mail. They said that I owe them x amount of dollars. No problem. Well, my mom had surgery and then I had to have surgery. I went back recently to the place I THOUGHT the letter was and it wasn't--nor was it anywhere else. Its disappeared-info, address and all. I need to have that email address and also their snail mail address so I can send them the money ( I think I remember how much) and request that the info by re-sent to me. I'm normally so much more organized with my research than this so I feel really bad that I have owed them money this long for research that they did for me. So can someone here give me those addresses again. They were so nice and so quick to look up and send the information to me and I'm red-faced that I have lost what they sent. Thanks. Nan Gaither San Diego, CA

Dear List Members, Lets have a Roll Call this weekend. The Roll Call will begin on Thursday Morning April 18th and continue on through Sunday evening April 21st. (PLEASE DO NOT BEGIN TO SEND YOUR ROLL CALL POSTINGS UNTIL THURSDAY MORNING.) Post your Surnames, dates townships if known and if you are posting to multiple counties that I take care of, be sure and mention county. If you are posting to a county along a state line when I take care of lists on both sides, you might also mention the state. You are welcome to post as much information as you wish and as little as long as there is a Surname, county and or time period. Be sure and watch the Subject line and CHANGE IT TO MATCH YOUR ROLL CALL POSTING to encourage members to read your message, such as ROLL CALL: SMITH, JONES, KELLETT 1830-1870 COUNTY NAME. PLEASE DO NOT JUST HIT RETURN AND TYPE IN YOUR INFORMATION!!!! CHANGE THE SUBJECT LINE AND DELETE THE LAST MESSAGE LONG WITH TAGLINES. Following these instructions will make this a much better Roll Call for all our members including yourself. For those members who do not like Roll Calls, just delete the messages and know that come Sunday night - it will be over. I continue to appreciate your support. It is because of each of you that our list is as strong as it is. Kathleen Burnett List Mom
I misfiled the name and e-mail address of the person to contact at the Jackson Madison Library. I would like to have a copy of the obit for Mabel Boykin HENDERSON Born 17 Aug 1876 in Gadsden Died 27 May 1960 in Jackson General Hospital. I have her death certificate. Mrs. Faye Williams provided the information. Does anyone on the list know of Mrs. Williams or her descendants? I would like to make contact with them. They may be able to provide me with additional information. Any help will be appreciated. Phil Di Matteo
Phil: Does the death certificate state the name of the funeral home that conducted her service? If Smith or Griffin Funeral Home was in charge, I can get you the funeral home records as well as the obit. Can anyone give me any suggestions about how to proceed. Samuel died in Mar. 1862, and had a will naming Mary and "the children", mentioning one child, Nancy as crippled. Before any guardianship court documents were filed the Civil War came to town. I've found them in 1860 census and part of them in 1870 - which only identified the children by one initial. The unnamed infant son in 1860 was married in 1878, and was killed in an accident in 1882. He's in the 1880 census with his wife and twin babies. I've tracked the family through the city directory, but I need to prove Joseph, the last son indeed belonged to this family. Can anyone give me a hint about what else I might investigate. Thanks, Karen I've found the family in a cemetery in Westover, but only a few of the children were buried there.
Does anyone know what resources are available with regard to those individuals who served in the military in the Spanish-American conflict. My gggrandfather lived in Jackson and disappeared between 1894 and 1900 when his wife appears on the US Census for the county living in the household of an older stepson. Am doing research for a book on the Brickey line and ran across the date for that war which got me to thinking. My gggrandfather was named Meredith Coleman Brickey. Christy Kapuschat
Thanks for the help Floyd. I'll check that out. Seems like these little grandpas had their own way of naming the towns. Carolyn OKC You have Perry Switch, there close to Bemis.
