I am looking for a copy of a book by J.H. Grime called History of Middle Tennessee Baptists published in 1902. This makes reference to Elder. Daniel Smith. Daniel Smith was born in Chatham Co. NC 8-29-1786. He served with Andrew Jackson in New Orleans. Children were: William Martin Smith md. Susan Dixon?; Daniel Wiseman md. Elizabeth Smith, Effie married Isham Beasley; Mary Ann md. William L. Smith, Henry never married; Neil went to Ky., SARAH (SALLY) married JOSHUA W. SMITH, Emily md. William Buie. By his second marriage he had Don Dixon Carlos Smith md. Sara Jane Meador (1) and Eliza Meador (2) and Charles Smith. My ancestors in the Smith family are Sarah and Joshua. Joshua was the son of Robert Smith of Virginia. Joshua Smith's brother, William L. Smith married Mary Ann Smith, Sarah Smith's sister. In addition, I am looking for another Smith line in the area: I believe that the mother of my ancestor Martha Driver was a Naomi Smith. I have no idea from what line. Martha Driver was married to Capt. Richard Bennett Freeman and lived in Macon County. Their son, John Franklin Freeman married Emily Smith daughter of Joshua Smith and Sarah Smith, above. That really is TOO many Smiths for any one to try to do alone!!
