    1. Macon Co. surnames
    2. R. Wayne Buttram
    3. I am sure glad to be on this list. Yesterday I sent to the list the surnames I am working on. I will now try to explain. Driver, Butrum, Stinson Willis My G G Grandmother was a Lucinda Driver b about 1812 and I dont know where. ( a lot of Drivers in and around Macon Co. ) Lucinda was married to a Pleasant Butrum or Butram. Pleasant was also b about 1812. My guess right now says he was born in Barren Co. Ky. Pleasant and Lucinda had 8 or 9 children. I have their names. I would like to know where and when Lucinda and Pleasant were married and where Lucinda was born. The name Stinson, Pleasant and Lucinda had a son named William Thomas Butrum . The Macon Co. census for 1850 had him listed as Thomas. William Thomas Butrum married a Esther L. Stinson. He was my G Grandfather and Esther was my G Grandmother. They were both born about 1836. They married in Dec. 1855. They had three children. William Thomas Butrum died in June 1861. Esther left some time after that heading north. She later showed up in Henderson Co. Ky. and a marriage bond dated July 20 1880 married a Silas Burk. To confuse matters even more the bond shows she married under the name of Esther Willis. I know a little about Burk. I know nothing about the person named Willis.Esther in 1882 was living in Evansville, In.where she died in Nov. 1911.Her son James R. Buttram was my grandfather. He was born in 1856 Macon Co. Tn. died in Evansville. 1939. When I was very small grandpa said that when they left Tn. heading north they walked most of the way, getting a ride once in a while on a wagon. He at that time would be 5 or 6 years old. I didnt mean to write a book on this but I have been working on this for 18 years and hardly know anything. Last year in June I visited Underwood Cemetery in Macon Co . Pleasant is buried there. Lucinda is not there. Esher said William Thomas was buried in Macon Co. Havent found his or Lucindas grave. Any information on any of these folks will be greatly appreciated. R. Wayne Buttram
