According to a lawsuit between the heirs of Joshua Goad, d. aft 1854 Smith Co Tn, his granddaughter Martha Kirby b abt. 1828 was wife to Charles Pruitt. I cannot find a Charles or Martha Pruitt (and variant spellings) anywhere in the 1860 census. Does anyone have a lead as to what happened to this couple; if Charles went by another name, etc. I can't find a Charles Pruit in the 1850 census in Macon or Smith Co TN. Charles and Martha married sometime between 1850 when she was censused with her father Shepherd Kirby, and the lawsuit of 1857. Or maybe an error was made when the clerk copied the lawsuit into the county records and Pruit wasn't the proper surname? Any assistance in locating this couple would be appreciated. Sharon Tabor
