Mary, sounds more likely than what I can up with. Ruth Ruth I went on a quest to see if I could find information that would make this somewhat accurate. Looking for my Lovelady info I got sidetracked and got involved in a quest to find more information on my STONE and FRAIM (FRAME) connections to the Lovelady's. So I was delayed on getting this LOVELADY info posted. I have some information concerning the Dower of Mary Lovelady, widow of John Lovelady dec'd. John died intestate (without a will) in 1841 Smith Co. TN. Listed besides Mary as his heirs were: Peter Shrum & wife Sarah, Nancy Parker, Jeremiah Gammon & wife Susannah, Joseph Gifford & wife Polly, Asa Lovelady, William Ellis & wife Rebecca, Moses Lovelady, John Lovelady, Thomas Lovelady, & William Lovelady heirs of said dec'd. I don't have the actual record but information about it and it looks like there was a bill filed ?Feb. 18, 1842 in Smith Co. TN circuit court concerning this Dower. At the time Wm. & Rebecca Ellis, Joseph & Polly Gifford and Thomas Lovelady were non-residents of the State of Tennessee. Vincent Lovelady was not mentioned in this Dower information, which makes me believe he probably died prior to his father or perhaps before this bill was filed in Feb. 1842? The William Lovelady and John Lovelady mentioned in the Dower info, I believe were sons of Vincent not sons of John & Mary Lovelady. Wm. & Rebecca Ellis were living in Montgomery Co. MO at the time. I haven't located where Joseph & Polly Gifford were yet. According to the Court records on the Jackson Co. website concerning the heirs of John Lovelady, it says son Thomas Lovelady died in 1843 in Illinois. So Thomas was probably in Illinois in 1841 but I haven't found out where yet. The Jackson Co. records also say that John Lovelady died leaving his widow and 9 children as his heirs and names the children as: 1. Sarah, who married Peter Shrum, 2. Nancy who married John Parker, 3. Susannah who married Jer. Gammon, 4. Rebecca who married William Ellis, 5. Polly who married Joseph F. Gifford, 6. Asa, 7. Thomas, 8. Moses and 9. Vincent R. Lovelady So here is what I have for John & Mary Lovelady and children. John Lovelady Bet. 1760 - 1770 SC d. 1841 Smith Co. Some of these dates I got from various rootsweb Worldconnect files and I question the birth dates for Polly & Rebecca. As you can see they are one day apart. So the only way I could see that that could possibly be accurate would be if they were twins and one of them born after midnight on the same (and or next) day. I did find William & Rebecca Ellis in 1850 Montgomery Co. MO census and there names are recorded in and online transcription of the New Providence Cemetery on the Montgomery Co. MO website. But there are no dates listed online for Rebecca. http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~mackley/Mo1850Jpegs/Montgomery/Montgomery50_P203.jpg HH# 498 William Ellis 51 farmer 500 b. Mo The last I found on Vincent R. Lovelady was 1830 Smith Co. census. Not sure where he went after that. I found this information but have not verified any of this yet on Vincent's sons and his widow. "Vincent, son of John Lovelady (Mary) of Smith co, TN; bc1806 m Mary Ellis (of Willis) dc1839-1842. Had sons John bc1834 (Mary Elizabeth McGee) d1874 Caney, KS; William bc1836 (Elizabeth Jane McGee) d1883 Douglas c, NB. Widow Polly m Charles Tompkins 20 May 1849, listed 1850 census Platte, c, MO. The sons married sisters children of John Henry McGee & Mildred Bowling." I guess that's enough for you to digest for now. Mary Knight
