Shirley, In the 1870 Macon County Census, I have found Henry Andrews, age 27, with wife, Uphemia "Gregory" (listed as her maiden name) age 20. They have a seven month old baby daughter, Susan L, and a nephew living with them in their household by the name of Ancil McDuffe age 14. Also, I looked back in the 1860 Census, did not find her family, but in the 1850 Macon County Census, I found the family: 1850 Macon County Census District 8, Household #544 GREGORY, Joseph R. 24 Farmer TN Nancy 24 TN Simpson L. 3 TN Uphemia A. 2 TN Jemima F. B. 5 months TN Peggy
Do you know if Uphemia's middle name is "Angeline" and does anyone know where Joseph & Nancy Gregory are in the 1860 census? If you look at the 1860 Macon co Census you will see J. Gregory 35, Louisa 34, W.F. 13(f) Angeline 10 as well as other children listed. In all other information I have on John Gregory & Louisa (mostly)from Truman Gregory and microfilm at the Lafayette Library and census records, I have never found W.F. or Angeline listed at their children. I am wondering if they are nieces or relatives from another Gregory family. John is supposed to have married first Elvira/Alvira Cothron d/o Robert & Winnifred Cothron and he and Alvira had a daughter Matilda Susan b. abt 1848. In the 1850 Macon Co census there is an Alvera 22 and Matilda S. 2, so that some what proves that she left John and went back home. Matilda Susan later married John Brawner. I cannot find John Gregory s/o Ambrose & Gemima in the 1850 census and I don't think they married until after 1850. These 2 girls are not my line from John but his son Wiley C(Doc) is my line but they are a mystery . Thanks for all the help that has been posted.
