We both agree that the mother of Berry Allen Doss was a BUTRAM. The Death Certificate for him lists his father as Jim DOSS and his mother as "unknown BUTRAM", place born unknown. Berry Allen Doss was born 17 Feb 1856 - 1858, depending on which document you choose to believe. You have Berry's mother as Mary Jane BUTRAM. Do you have the parents for this Mary Jane BUTRAM or a birth date for her? The only Mary Jane BUTRAM I have was the daughter of Pleasant BUTRAM and his 2nd wife, Harriet (CAGE) BRADLEY BUTRAM. Mary Jane was born about 1859 so she was a peer of Berry Allen DOSS, not his mother. Maybe you have information on an older Mary Jane BUTRAM? Perhaps a sister to Pleasant BUTRAM? I would be thrilled to find one! (2.) You wrote: "Also that Azariah Jefferson Doss marr a Butram, but don't know which one." I am not a DOSS researcher, although I have several in my file because they were closely associated with the BUTRAM family. I show Azariah Jefferson DOSS (1839-1875) married Mary Elizabeth Tooley on 20 Jul 1865 in Muhlenburg Co., KY. This Azariah Jefferson DOSS was the son of Joel L. DOSS and Elizabeth G. BUTRUM. Also I have an Azariah DOSS, born about 10 years earlier, son of James Ayers DOSS and Sarah HUNDLEY. I don't have a wife listed for him. Maybe he married a BUTRAM/BUTRUM? (3.) You wrote: "All buried at Underwood". I have been to the Underwood Cemetery in Macon Co., TN but don't believe I have a list of the burials in it. Wish I did! It might help with some of the relationships. However, Mary Jane "Mollie" BUTRAM, daughter of Harriett and Pleasant BUTRAM, is beside her mother, her grave marked only with a plain fieldstone. I know this to be correct because Leon WOOTEN a native of the area and from this family was with me the day I visited. I believe he is also the one who told me Mary Jane BUTRAM married James FORD. Unfortunately this was years ago before I realized the importance of good documentation. Helen, I really am interested in these BUTRAM and DOSS intermarriages and hope this is not the end of our exploring the relationships together. I want my research accurate and I am sure you want yours accurate also. Let's keep working on this until we are sure we're right.
