Hello, I have done quite a lot of research on the Mintz/Mince name. These are the spellings of almost all of the research I have done, but I have seen MUENCH, MINTS, MENSE, those are very rare except at the point where the Minces came to America. The name of Mince was as are lots of names spelled according to the census taker at that time as most of the people could not spell themselves. My husbands family is Mince except when it came to William and it is seen both ways. On the headstones in Smith Co., Tn it is spelled Mintz and I have communicated with a member of that line and it is still spelled that way through the Mary Martha West part of the family line. Williams first wife was Sarah Banks and as far as I know the spelling is Mince at that time. I don't really have any explanation as to why...... I have never heard of your names in my research, sorry....
