Shirley, I knew they were in Mo. but not the Co. They went to Mo. After their first daughter was born. Their second daughter was born in Mo. John Jr. was born in 1862 so he probably never remembered his father. John Sr. died in IL. The way I have always been told he died of pneumonia. So he probably died in a hospital not in battle. Jonnah applied for his pension in Mo. I found it in the Civil War records. She applied under the name Elizabeth Thompson Widow of John T. Thompson. I have been in touch with the National Archives to make sure they are my John and Elizabeth. Yes, Jonnah can home after John died. I would love to have your info. on James Sutton. Who was his first wife? Where is he buried? I have him in my Family Tree Maker as Jonnah's second husband. I have always though he had a first wife because he wasn't buried with Jonnah.
