I can't prove it as yet, but I feel that Abner J. and Luverna H. Owen were the parents of Mattie from what I can find. I have seen the original bible records that prove that Martha D. (Mattie) Owen(s) was the first wife of George A. Gregory along with her date of birth - they belong to my relative. They were the possession of George and Cammie Kirby Gregory. This is also where I was able to find the children of George Gregory from both his marriages along with my mother's help.
