    3. BL I have a cousin that has tintypes of two sets of my gr-gr-grandparents and we cannot get her to take them and have copies made. (Makes me so mad). Anyway she had someone make prints from his scanner and she printed them in the paper. Another of my cousins (who is also trying to get her to copy the tintypes) got a copy of the pictures from the ones the other cousin had for the paper and she made me copies from her scanner and printer on photo paper. They turned out pretty good considering and its the best I've got for now. BL, I don't know if this is John Wayne's :-) connection or not because his Vaughn's went to Illinois? early on I think? But I'll forward it to the Gen-Gen list just in case. Mur Mur, I've done that on several occasions. Take a picture with a digital camera, run it through a printer on photographic paper and they come our very well. BTW: I haven't heard from John Wayne Vaughn lately. Could William H. Vaugh be one of his guys? 3. I can't help with the identity but if you really want copies of them try taking them to a local photographer and have them make copies. My mother has had great success in doing this with old pictures. The photographer she uses doesn't charge all that much to make a negative and make prints for her. If you don't want to go to that expense just take pictures of them with your own camera (digital if you have one). Mary Knight Hello, I have received 2 large portraits of Mary Elizabeth Byrn Wilson Vaughan and her daughter by her 1st marriage, Susan Wilson Bentle. They are both very old in the portraits and I don't know which one is which. I am curious if there is anyone that might have a picture of either of them so I could figure this out. They are much too large to even try to copy. They belonged to my gr aunt and she is gone and I have "inherited" them and would love to know which one is whom. Mary Elizabeth Byrn was first married to S. Thomas Wilson and then to William H. Vaughan. Mary and S. Thomas had a daughter named Susan A. Wilson that married Elmer Bentle. 3. Some from Macon County, TN lied about their ages to get into the military during wars. But that may not be the case here. I have seen some really big errors when others are giving information for funeral records too. Was his 3rd child in the 1920 census born after 1917? That would explain the difference in number of dependent children. Buck is a nickname for William many times. I guess they had to come up with something besides Will, Billy, Willie, Bill. Buck Hannon Butler, son of James Clinton Butler was b. 8/15 in IL - some of the Butlers and Kirbys from Macon Co spent some time in IL - some staying and some returning. This Buck was married with 3 children in the 1920 census The Buck in the WWI Draft info was also b. 8/15, having a wife and 2 children as dependants in 1917. Many thanks for your help.
