Gary That's them.... Laura is my great great grandmother.... I have really been trying to find out what happen to Laura's husband Ben Flatt...It was said that their kids got put in a poor house in Lafayette aft. 1910. Their son Lester(my great grandfather) always went by the last name Mogan, and on his delayed birth certificate his last name is Flatt so I am trying to find out if he was born before Laura and Ben got married or not... Ruth, The Macon Co. history says, five familys of Carter's came to Macon but only one came from N.C. and I'm thinking this is the family I'm looking for. Yes, Mary I have this information. Thomas is the father of Edward L. next doors. And he is my ggreatgrandfather. I don't know who Barto is . I think it says he a farm hand. Vincent Lovelady was not mentioned in this Dower information, which makes me believe he probably died prior to his father or perhaps before this bill was filed in Feb. 1842? The William Lovelady and John Lovelady mentioned in the Dower info, I believe were sons of Vincent not sons of John & Mary Lovelady. Wm. & Rebecca Ellis were living in Montgomery Co. MO at the time. I haven't located where Joseph & Polly Gifford were yet. According to the Court records on the Jackson Co. website concerning the heirs of John Lovelady, it says son Thomas Lovelady died in 1843 in Illinois. So Thomas was probably in Illinois in 1841 but I haven't found out where yet.
