Hi - I am looking for the Bandys and Freemans and Bartons that were in Macon Co. TN around Lafayette and Red Boiling Springs. My husband's grandmother worked for Dr. East and that is how I found his name. Thank you for the reply. For those of you who have heard about the use of DNA in tracing your family tree and wondered if it might be for you, I recommend a relatively new book for your consideration: TRACE YOUR ROOTS WITH DNA by Megan Smolenyak and Ann Turner (2004). This book presents this subject in very easily understood language and provides additional steps that you might want to consider if youre interested. Alton Jenkins Cincinnati, OH, USA

Marian, I am not Bobby but I can tell you that the Macon County Historical Society have typed and put into books the Macon County, TN census from 1850 thruogh 1910. Members of the Society have added notes such as maiden names to these census records. The 1860 census was mostly initials and they have attempted to add names. There were a few mistakes made of course. The 1850 & 1860 are in one book; the 1870 & 1880 are in one book and the 1900 & 1910 are in one book. For a limited time you may purchase all three books for less than $100.
