    3. The Macon County Historical Society does not have any Cemetery books in stock. Some individuals who live out of county have some they would be willing to sell at a profit. I know of one. 2. I too am interested in the Cemetery books. Also would like to know if the Historical Society has or are considering publishing a 1920-1930 census book? I have the 1850 thru 1910 books, they have been a real big help to me. The surnames I have been tracing are: Tuck, Carter, Swindle, Marsh, Jones, Fishburn, King, Barton, Wright, Steen, Cassitty/Cassetty, York etc.... Teresa Gunn gunn1078@bellsouth.net

    3. The Macon County Historical Society first came up with this idea in 1990. We have been researching for this book every since. We would take the first census of Macon County (1850) and do a group sheet on each household. We want to know names of husband & wife and their parents, dates of birth & death on husband and wife, where buried, all children and who they married, military, church affiiliations, etc. Children born before & after 1850 to these couples listed in 1850 census. For instance: HH#14 Henry Wakefield. His is 110 years according to census. He is md to 2nd wife and we have all his children and spouses listed. He was Rev War soldier. Then there is HH#21 Humphrey Burton. He and Eliza have just married. He is really Humphrey Halliburton We list their children all born after 1850 of course and their spouses. The cemetery books (now out of print) and the census books we have published (1850 thru 1910) are a big help toward this since we added many maiden names and genealogical notes to those books. However some people seemed to vanish after the census taker came by in 1850. We have located some by using Family Search LDS and found them in 1880 census in other states. Some we can't be for sure if we have "our" person or another by same name and age. Let me know which you have info on and I will check to see if our group sheet is complete Anna Bertram <abertram@heartoftn.net> wrote: Mary, Please tell us more about the book. 1. Re: [TNSUMNER] Sumner county Archives
    2. Billy Woodall
    3. June The archives were not damaged. Looks like southern side of Gallatin back toward Hendersonville, TN sustained the hardest hit. Eight killed. Numerous injured. Storm came up from Goodlettsville thru New Shackle Island, parts of Hendersonville to Volunteer State Community College, crossed Hwy 31E or Nashville Pike and Woodhaven to South Water and crossed at the intersection of Gallatin By Pass and Hwy 109 South (turned eighteen wheelers over on cars. and headed to Trousdale County. My opinion, based upon location of damage, there were two tornados that apparently came together. I have been in tornados and know how it is. Volunteer State Community College sustained major damage and classes are cancelled until further notice. Car dealership across the 31E or Nashville Pike had over 250 new cars destroyed along with the building. Four people were killed in Woodhaven Subdivision. Four more killed close to South Water going toward the Wilson County line. Hwy 109 is closed in both directions. Destruction unbelievable. William Lee Golden's home, built in 1786 was destroyed. Go to thetennessean.com or WSMV.com, newschannel5.com or gallatinnewsexaminer.com for photos, etc. Water in Gallatin, TN undrinkable and will not be up until 4:00 P.M. today (if lucky) Maybe longer. Power in some places will be out for at least a week. Please keep everyone in your prayers. NOTE; UPDATE: ANOTHER BODY HAS BEEN FOUND IN SUMNER COUNTY, TN. THIS BRINGS TOTAL TO NINE NOW. Unable to access some of the hardest hit area's until search and rescue has been completed. Billy W. 1. Look Up Volunteers
    2. My plans for 2006 is to get as far as I can with revamping the TNMacon Website. I am open to suggestions. First up will be the Volunteer Lookup page. If you have volunteered in the past, let me say thank-you, BUT if you don't mind, go to the look up page and make sure your e-mail address is correct and if it isn't let me know. If you have material and you would like to share and help someone out with their own research than now is a great time to volunteer. Let me know what material you have and your e-mail address and I will get this done. My deadline for completing this project is APRIL 30th, 2006. That should give you and me plenty of time. Thanks, Shelta You are responsible for obtaining written permission for any published/copyrighted source.
