Okay, Barbara. I'm researching Jenkins, Butler, Hargis, Smith, Boston, Witcher, Goad, Pack, and many others. I'm focusing on Nicholas Jenkins, William Jenkins, Roderick Jenkins, and Roderick's dad William Jenkins. Much of my current data comes from Cal's Column in the Macon County Times of some years back. Would really like to find where Roderick was born and where is dad, William, was from. They moved into the Smith/Macon/Jackson Counties area just before 1800, apparently from Rowan County, NC. Nicholas Jenkins served briefly in the 9th Kentucky Infantry before he became ill. Would love to find a picture of him.

Hello Everyone, Families I am researching in Macon Co. & a little of the surrounding area are: Lyles, Meador, Weems, Hanes, Crabtree, White, Claiborne, Waldron, McGhee. Some questions about my bunch are: 1. Alexander Lyles, b. 1800 - married 1820 to Margaret Meador @ Longcreek, then Sumner Co. Well where did this boy come from? Who were his parents? 2. Richard Crabtree b. 1811 - married 1832 to Matilda White. Who were Richard's parents? Who were Matilda's parents? We think Matilda's dad was a James White, but we are not sure? We think Matilda's mom was a Mallory. Does anyone have information on this line? Richard & Matilda passed in 1891 & 1899 respectively. Are there death records anywhere? Well, if anyone can help with these few questions, I've got lots more! Any information would be appreciated very much. Thanks a lot, Twila Lyles Taylor (from the place of hazy skies, Okla.)

I do not have the records at the office today, but my great grandmother's tombstone gives her name as Emily Smith Freeman and other documents name her as Emaline. On her death certificate is the name Matilda. Also, Wiseman is a middle name used by one of the Daniel Smiths in the family. I will have to go back and see what we have. I know that there are Smiths married to Smiths and they were all in Macon and Smith County. Thanks, Judy Schwank

I am a descendant of "Capt. Dick" Richard Bennett Freeman and Martha Driver of Macon County, Tennessee. I have information on the Freeman's back to Bedford County. I do not have much informatin on the Driver family. Capt. Dick's mother was Mary Creasy of Bedford County, Virginia. I know that some of the Creasy's came to Macon County, and hope that someone has more of that line information. Part of the Dowdy line also came to Macon County from Bedford County, Virginia. Also, I am researching Reverand Daniel Smith and the Smith family line. John Franklin Freeman married Emily or Emmaline Smith. She was the daughter of two different Smiths. Any information would be appreciated. John Franklin Smith was my great grandfather and he and Emily are both buried at Plano Baptist Cemetary in Warren County, Ky. Thanks for any help.
