Hi All, Among other things we are preparing another Bible record for the webpage. We have also added a page to add our Images. Right now there is only one image but I am sure that will change before long. We have also added guidelines for submitting your record or image. It is certainly a pleasure to be a part of this team. We are open to suggestions and if you will please check out the recently posted queries. If you can help someone out, do so, because that is the "Macon County Way." Hi Michelle, Here's what I have: Thomas Smith (born abt 1837) married Sally Beasley (born abt 1836). Their children were Dora, John, Mary, Rainey, Sarah, Braddock (abt 1853), Allen (abt 1855), and Robert (Feb 1857 -- 1941). Robert married Martha Ann Taylor (May 1862 - 1946), the daughter of Joseph J. Taylor (1820-1898) and Adaline Mary Nixon (1842-1881). Their children were Lou Hattie (10/1/1880--9/12/1960), Vergie Beulah (3/20/1887-2/11/1962), Mollie Ann (11/27/1890--6/21/1988), and Maggie (1893--1958). Mollie was my grandmother. These families lived in the Pleasant Shade community of Smith County, just across the line from Macon County. Several moved to Macon County during their lifetimes. Alton in Cincinnati
Hi everyone! It's been awhile since I received a mailer from this group and thought I would throw out a post and see if I get a nibble! I'm researching the following lines. Anyone connect? Please e-mail me!! Llita@aol.com Tom SMITH married Sally BEASLEY born abt. 1855 (?) child of Tom and Sally: Robert SMITH married *Martha Ann TAYLOR both born abt. 1855 (?) child of Robert and Martha: Lou Hattie SMITH b. 10-01-1880 married William Franklin JENKINS b. 4-11-1871 child of Lou and William: Dorothy Mae JENKINS b. 9-17-1898 married James Floyd BOUTON b. 4-11-1896 * I have Martha Ann TAYLOR's parents below (I'm also researching) Joe TAYLOR married Adeline NIXON both born abt. 1855 (?) I talked with a gentleman (don't remember his name it's been too many years) that said he was a descendant thru Adeline's brother, her brother fought on the Confederate side during the war while the rest of the family fought on the Union side. I'm not sure if these families were from Macon or Smith County because I've received conflicting information. I do know for a fact that Dorothy Mae JENKINS was born in Macon County. Any help or leads would be wonderful and appreciated!!!!! Thanks, Michelle England
Hezekiah Blankenship was the son of Joel Blankenship and the grandson of Hezekiah and Rhoda Meador Blankenship. Does anyone know the maiden name of Hezekiah's first wife, Susan. Hezekiah and Susan first appear in the 1850 Macon Co. census. Tradition has it that Susan was the daughter of Peyton Law. That assumption is probably the result of an error in an early index of the 1850 Tenn. census which placed Hezekiah and Susan in the household of Peyton Law. The census itself shows that they were in the adjacent household. In any event, that Peyton was only 5 years older than Susan. Hezekiah later lived in Monroe Co., Ky. and married a Mary Smith in 1868. They were back in Macon by 1876, where Hezekiah died in 1888. I would greatly appreciate any information about the family of Susan. Jerry Blankenship San Saba, TX
