    3. Peggy do you think that the Mitchell Jones is My John Mitchell who died in 1963? Will you please look to see if there is a John Mitchell buried anywhere else in Macon Co. If there is not one how do I go about finding out if that is him and how to locate the plot so I might be able to put a maker on it for him. -----Original Message----- From: Peggy [mailto:[email protected]] Sent: Wednesday, December 18, 2002 1:25 PM To: [email protected] Subject: [TNMACON] Jones family Michelle: Macon County Cemetery book Volume 1 Jones Family Cemetery 1st District Map 58 Parcel 31.00. I am searching for the name of her husband and the date and location of their marriage. Her obituary in the Gallatin paper in February, 1905, showed that her married name was Law and that inscription is on her tombstone which I have viewed. There is a child buried next to her but I could not make out the name. Virginia Woodson Atkerson was the daughter of James Ira Edward Head Atkerson who lived at Westmoreland, Sumner County, Tennessee. She was living in the Epperson Springs community at the time of her death. Help, please, anyone! John Addison Venable [email protected] John Addison Venable

    2. <PRE>Several contacted me privately to see if I had found where to purchase the Red Boiling Springs book. Thanks to the Macon County Historical Society I was able to reach the author, Vernon Roddy, tonight. What a nice guy! We talked for over an hour. It's a small world as we know quite a few people in common including an old college roommate of mine. Vernon said the book was printed in 1991 with only 500 copies that sold out. He had hoped to reprint it this past summer but due to personal reasons was not able to get to it. He said another printing will be forthcoming this summer if all goes well. Happy Thanksgiving and safe traveling to all. Connecticut is suppose to get 4"-7" of snow tonight and tomorrow.

    3. Does anyone have any information on Elizabeth Arilla DIXON who married Jesse SLOAN (the younger of two Jesse SLOANs). She is shown as Arilla on the 1850 Macon county census with husband Jesse and son Marion Franklin and son "unnamed". I am fairly certain she had a sister named Sally who married William Alex FLATT. I am trying to determine who her parents were and where she is buried. She is sometimes listed as Arilla and sometimes Elizabeth. If you have any info on either name, I'd appreciate it if you could let me know. She was my g-g- grandmother. Thanks -- Linda Sloan Chalmers in Texas - http://homepages.rootsweb.com/~sloan

Could he have lived in the same area and be found listed this way in the census? Did the county lines change this much? Would appreciate your help. Leon Barton

    1. [TNMACON] Your New Jersey ancestors need your help
    2. If you have New Jersey ancestors you need to read the below info and visit the website. >>>The State of New Jersey is trying to complete a turnpike project. In doing so the future of a cemetery is at stake. A descendant of one of the 3500 or even possibly 9000 burials in the cemetery has been fighting the various levels of government in order to save the cemetery. It is my understanding that the those involved with the project were going to remove any remains and bury all in one great big mass grave and not make any attempt to notify the descendants/relatives. There is a website which has numerous articles and other information. Your support is needed. There are two ways to speak up and have your voice heard: 1) download a printable petition and obtain signatures, or 2) sign an online petition. I hope that those who have ancestors in the State of New Jersey will support the effort in saving this cemetery. If you don't have ancestors or relatives in New Jersey, then consider the fact that it could happen to a cemetery where your ancestors are buried. The website address is - www.graveinfo.com

They lived next to William and Sarah Gibson (both born in Virginia) in the 1850 Macon County Census. William and Sarah had children Hester, Samantha, and Sarah living with them. Is any one researching the Gibson family of Macon County? Is William and Sarah parents of Hiram? Please help as this family is my brick wall. Thank you.

    3. How much "Proof" is enough for a "Positive" Identification?? Recently upon a genforum board the following query appeared: "I have decendants of Rev. Charles Wesley Creasy b. 21 MAY 1832 in VA, d. 19 NOV 1892 Madison Co., MO. Married Margaret Ann Wallace b. 21 AUG 1835, Macon Co. TN and d. 03 JUN 1901 Madison Co. Children Nora Cornelia, William, Emma, Ella, and Cora. He is my third great grandfather." Running this Rev. Charles Wesley Creasy through some online databases I discover a different birth date of 1830. Now in the Macon COunty Census for 1850 there is JesseCreasy with the following sons: Charles W. (b abt 1830), Jessee P. (B abt 1833), Meredith B.(abt 1839), William B. (abt 1839) and James C (abt 1840) 1880 Census records for Madison county MO finds The Widow of Charles W. Creasy, Willim B. Creasy and James C. Creasy living in various parts of Madison County, MO. William and James birth years correspond as well as their birthplace Tennessse, and the birthplace of their parents Virginia. So would I be jumping the gun to assume this is the same set of Macon County Creasy Brothers?? __________________________________________________ Do you Yahoo!? Yahoo! Mail Plus Powerful.
