Hello, I have been told that a Granddaughter of Soloman Shrum. Tells a story about the mother of Soloman Shrum. That she left him with her parents, John Allen Shrum and Mary Susannah Leath, because she had Soloman out of wed lock. I am a descendent of both the Shrum and Leath line. Through Carroll Shrum and Mary "Mallie Leath, So I am very interested in this story. Does anyone know who this grand- daughter might be. Thanks in advance. Ruth Kirby [email protected]

Lou: In the Smith County TN Marriage Book 1881-1920 listed as follows: Michell Gammon & Margie Russell, October 20, 1916 by L. P. Lou: I have checked the marriage books and can't find a match. The closest I can find is a H.M. Gammon married to a L.S. Smith 21 Apr 1907. The Volume I Marriage Book runs from April 1901 to July 1929. Have you checked Monroe County, KY or Clay County, TN? Sometimes for whatever reason people got married closeby in another county. Good luck in your search! If some kind soul has access to Macon County Marriage records, I would certainly appreciate a lookup. Henry Mitchell Gammons to Margie Gertrude Russell. I think this would be around 1917-1918. Since they were both born in Macon County, I am assuming they were married in Macon County. I realize there is a problem with Macon County records since the courthouse has burned so many times. I do appreciate any help. Thanks Lou Russell Travelsted
Hi Ruth, thanks for the reply. Depends on which Elam you are referring to......there were several of them in the early 1800.s. Looks like Vesper Russell descends from Elam born 1792 in VA married to Nancy Williams.born in NC. I don't have much on the John Russell family, just a pedigree chart that was sent to me. Casey.
