Lou: I can help you out as these are my ancesters. Curtis Gregory was the son of Smith and Rebecca (Kemp) Gregory. He and wife Rachel are buried in the Will Gregory Cemetery which is on the Big (Peyton) Creek road northwest of Pleasant Shade in Smith County, TN. Smith Gregory was the son of William H. Gregory (aka Squire Bill) who was the son of Thomas Gregory, Sr. Curtis was a brother to my great grandmother. The Macon County line is about 200 yards north of the cemetery, and the Sycamore Valley Church is in Macon County. Curtis gave the land for it to be built on. The children of Smith and Rebecca Gregory were: 1. Curtis Gregory (whom I was named after) was born May 1, 1816. He married Rachel Thompson (or Thomason as it has been recorded both ways). He died June 26, 1885 and is buried in the Will Gregory Cemetery in Smith County, TN. 2. Noel Gregory born 1820. 3. Joesph Newton Gregory born Oct. 28, 1822 and died Jan. 1, 1892. 4. William H. Gregory (whom the cemetery was named after as he donated the land) was born Feb. 2, 1827. He married Polly Ann Kemp ( his cousin). He died June 27, 1914 and he and Polly are buried in the Will Gregory Cemetery. Their Headstone is the one with the arch over the top. 5. Minervie (also on census as Minervy) Gregory born 1830. 6. Elizabeth Gregory born Mar. 4, 1831 and died May 30, 1910. 7. Nancy Gregory born 1837. 8.Mary (Polly) Ann Gregory (my great grandmother) was born December 22, 1838 in Macon County. She first married James Newton Parker and they had three children. He joined the army at Red Boiling Springs and died in February of 1863. We have never found his grave or records. She then married his older brother, Richard. They had three children (one was my grandmother). They lived in Polly Ann Hollow between the Will Gregory Cemetery and Sycamore Valley Church in Macon County. This place is presently owned by Ms. Alyson Fox. In 1878, she loaded the children in a wagon and moved to Madison County, Mo. leaving Richard in Tennessee. We have never found where he is buried. He was listed in the 1880 Macon County Census as "widowed" but Polly Ann was still alive. She later (in 1885) married a man named Isaac Grubbs and they lived on Big Creek in Madison County, Missouri. She died January 16, 1914 and is buried in the Farquahar-Graham Cemetery at Buckhorn, Mo. 9.Larkin Gregory born 1840 10. Jesse A. Gregory born 1847. Smith and Rebecca are buried in the Will Gregory Cemetery. I hope this helps you in your research. I have a full filing cabinet on the Gregory family. Regards, Curtis Johnson Bartlesville, OK
