Bobby, I am very interested. How are we almost "cuzzins"? Martha and Jonas had six children. I only recently found out that there was an infant, born & died 12/15/1904. Flossie, 9/27/1886-10/9/1920; Vallie, 4/7/1890-7/5/1908; Mamie (not sure of spelling, and I will get back to you with more info) Mamie was married to Henry Heitt. Della Sloan, 1/22/1892-8/24/1976, married John C. Sloan, 1/19/1889-3/11/1975; Virgil, 1/2/1894-11/5/1977, married Ellen Dee Gregory, 3/9/1897-5/11/1985. The only info I have on Martha West Whitley, 1/21/1867-10/30/1905. Jonas, 10/24/1859-4/28/1930, born Macon Co. After Martha died, Jonas married Mary Beasley. There was one child by this marriage, James Francis Whitley, 9/2/1917. I think I have covered Jonas and Martha's family, other than a couple of dates, and I will get back to you on those dates. If you have questions, let me know. Hello Sue~ My name is Tim Cohea, I'm a descendant of Asa Joiner (or Joyner) Shrum, the "just-younger" brother of Pleasant Franklin Shrum. I can't say that I have a lot of info on the Loveladys either, I had a hard time tracking them. Tracked them back to their former states though. Are you a descendant of Pleasant Franklin and his first or second wife?? Of course you know that his first wife was the younger sister of Asa Joiner's wife don't you?? In the long ago past I had contact with a couple of the descendants of Pleasant Franklin who were, well "double-cousin" descendants to me and my clan. One of them was kind enough to share the photo of Pleasant Franklin in his Civil War uniform with me (in 8x10 form no less!!), a nice looking man though he looks for the world like one of my own uncles!!! Pathetically nobody anywhere in my clan has EVER seen a picture of Asa Joiner Shrum! Or of ol' Peter and Sarah Shrum either, oh! and my preacher-grandmother insisted that Sarah's name was Becky Lovelady too!. I'd enjoy hearing from you, and anything you had to share, Take care, Tim Cohea In a message dated 5/3/2005 8:09:26 AM US Mountain Standard Time, macbeth@greatlakes.net writes: > Hi > > My name is Sue Boyle > and I am a descendant of Pleasant Franklin Shrum > > whos parents were Peter Shrum and Sarah (Becky) Lovelady > I believe Sarahs fathers name was John > > I have lots of information on the Shrums but only those two names in the > LoveLady line. > > Let me know if you have any information on Sarahs family > > thanks n god bless > Sue > > > ----- Original Message ----- > From: "B & B West" <geefer@sti.net> > To: <TNMACON-L@rootsweb.com> > Sent: Tuesday, May 03, 2005 1:50 AM > Subject: [TNMACON] LOVELADY > > > > From: Nita Lawing > > Nita Lovelady Lawing > > > > > > Regarding the LOVELADY in your signature. > > Are you connected to the John LOVELADY line of early Smith Co./Macon Co. > TN? > > > > Bobby L. Looks like we're almost "cuzzins". <g> Virgil Whitley is the s/o Jonas and Martha West Whitley; Virgil had a sister Vallie b 1890. I haven't done much research on the WHITLEY line and I was wondering how and where the other Vallie (b. 1890) fit into the WHITLEY picture. Things are starting to make a little more sense now. Thanks!!! Bobby L. West

Hello, I have done quite a lot of research on the Mintz/Mince name. These are the spellings of almost all of the research I have done, but I have seen MUENCH, MINTS, MENSE, those are very rare except at the point where the Minces came to America. The name of Mince was as are lots of names spelled according to the census taker at that time as most of the people could not spell themselves. My husbands family is Mince except when it came to William and it is seen both ways. On the headstones in Smith Co., Tn it is spelled Mintz and I have communicated with a member of that line and it is still spelled that way through the Mary Martha West part of the family line. Williams first wife was Sarah Banks and as far as I know the spelling is Mince at that time. I don't really have any explanation as to why...... I have never heard of your names in my research, sorry....
