Thank you, Mitzi, for the death certificates database! Does anyone have info on the following Samuel J. SPARKS? >DEATH CERTIFICATE NUMBER: 54829 >Date of Death: 1/2/12 >Sex: Male >Color: White >Age: 87 years 6 months >Married or Single: Married >Place of Death: Philadelphia >Cause of Death: Heart failure >Place of Birth: Blount County >Occupation: Harness & saddle maker Searching for a connection between Samuel SPARKS & Mary SPARKS. The death certificate of my gggrandfather, Thomas BRACKETT (b.1833, d. 1920), lists his parents as Mary SPARKS and Morgan BRACKETT. We've always known Morgan's wife was Mary but didn't know her maiden name until recently. Thanks for any help. Ann
I found my ggrandmother on the 1910 census, but it's very odd to me. Wondering if anyone else has ever come across a similar situation. Allie JACKSON m. Calaway THOMAS. Calaway died in 1907. In 1910, Allie is living in the household of her son-in-law, Frank GRIMES, 20, but she is listed as Allie CALLOWAY, 44, along with her four small children (all names & ages that match my grandfather & his siblings). I would have thought this name-switch from Thomas to Calloway was a mistake by the census taker (maybe hearing that her late husband was Calaway & putting that down as surname). But next-door is Henry CALLOWAY, who I know to be Allie THOMAS' son, Henry THOMAS. Why, after her husband's death, would she change her surname from THOMAS to his first name, Calaway?? Our family has always known them with the surname Thomas. Any connections or ideas? Ann
