Lenoir (Loudon Co. area) pp. 193-195, etc. William Ballard Lenoir married in 1802 in NC the daughter of Waightstill Avery. Mr. Avery was a prominent lawyer and was the first attorney general for NC (1777). It looks like that's where the Waightstill name came from.
