My grandfather's family was from the Hickory Creek area on the Loudon/Knox County line. Prior to the Civil War a post office called Hope's Creek was established nearby but it was discontinued by the war. During reconstruction D. M. Key, an ex-rebel was apponted to placate the area and another post office called Vancover was established with W. B. Hope as postmaster. My grandfather is Sanders Leeper Liles and he is the grandson of James Liles, born 1803 in North Carolina.
