    3. List, I have a marriage record for Joseph P. Grubb to Dorothy Kimpler/Kimplen for 2 July 1919 in Loudon Co., TN. Can anyone tell me anything about this couple. Is Joseph P. the son of King W. Grubb and Rosa Anna Whitaker who lived in Lenoir City, TN in the early 1900's? There is also a marriage record for Joseph Grubb to Clella May Muller 13 Sep 1921 by Rev. E. E. Harvey. Is this the same Joseph that is mentioned above. Any help would be appreciated. Wanda

    3. Hi Everyone, Does anyone have any spare time to do some typing for me? I have a copy of the Unitia Cemetery that I want to put online. It's about 12 pages long. I also have the 1883 Loudon County Pension list. I should have some more cemeteries when I go to the library and get them copied. If you have some spare time and would like to do some typing, please let me know. Mitzi Freeman Loudon County TNGenWeb Host

    3. Hi Wanda, You found me. My Babbs (or rather my husbands) did come from Greene Co, TN. Hiram Babb married Polly Crabtree in 1793 in Greene County (g-grandparents) (3g-grandparents) Abraham Babb married Minerva M. Derosset Hood in 1847 in Roane Co (2g-grandparents) Joseph Lafayette Babb married Mary C. Grammar in 1883 in Roane Co (g-grandparents on my husband's mother's side) William Malone Babb married Mary E. Blackburn in 1878 in Loudon Co (g-grandparents on my husband's father's side) My 2g-grandfather, James Liles married Eliza Huffman in 1842 in Roane County, TN. I believe she is the daughter (or maybe) brother of Adam Huffman. There is a Maggie Huffman who married Jame Henry Rupe that is buried in the same cemetery (Hickory Creek) as James Liles and one of their daughters' married a grandson of James'. I don't know what the connection is. There is a Isaac and John Huffman (son's of Adam) who lived in the Martel community of Loudon Co (a stone's throw from where I now live). I found reference to Lee Huffman also of Martel. I can't get a handle on this family but would be interested in knowing if they are connected to Eliza. Some are buried in Martel Cemetery where some of my husband's family is buried. My Grubbs are descended from Daniel Grubb (who MAY be the son of Christian Grubb of Virginia) who married Catherine Pickel in 1804. Daniel was in Roane Co as early as 1798 when he was on the roster of soldiers at Fort Southwest Point. Interestingly, I have also found a John Huffman and a Michael Huffman on these rosters. Could they be the beginnings of the Huffman's in Roane County. Eliza was born in TN and so was Adam Huffman. Daniel's son William Marion Grubb, Sr. married Prudence Scarbrough, and their son William Marion Grubb, Jr. married Amanda Waller. I hope you can connect to some of these and shed some light. 3. Sorry list; Looking for Sandy Fine, I just saw your Surname Roll-call on the Roane County list. I deleted the message before I got your e-mail address. I remember seeing your name frequently on this list. What Babb are you reseraching? Are they connected to the Greene County, Babb's? Also I noticed a couple other names that are also in my reserach. What Huffman and what Grubb lines are you researching? I think that we talked about the Grubb's once before. Wanda in CO

    2. For those of you who have the new Loudon Co Heritage Book, please make a correction to the misspelled surnames in article 628, Thomas King and Mary Ann Daniel King. Half way through the article Nicholason should be NICHOLSON and Goone should be GOODEN. Sarah Gooden is a sister to Susannah Gooden Watts on articles 883 and 884. Thank you, Lynn Sheppa

    3. Hello Everyone, Has anyone received their Loudon County Heritage book yet? The form for White County's book came out about the same time as the Loudon County form. I got my White County book yesterday, and I must say that it is spectacular. I checked the County Heritage Book Site at http://www.countyheritagebooks.com/ Loudon County's book is available for sale on both the "Completed" and the "Pre-Sale" order forms. It is also listed on both lists under the Full County Lists. I was just curious if anyone had received theirs yet. Please post to the list if you have. Mitzi

    3. Good Morning Loudon County Researchers, I have been very remiss with this list and the Loudon County site recently primarily because of school being out in the summer. Well, school is back in session, and I wanted to give you a preview of what will be happening at the Loudon County this year. First of all, I would like to wish everyone a warm Tennessee welcome. I failed to do so when the list was created in June. If you have any questions, just holler at me. I may not be able to always find the answers, but I generally have some suggestions. Here are my plans for the year: 1. Index to the County Wills in Loudon County: I have the microfilm for Will Book A and will be transcribing the index to put online. 2. 1891 Enumeration of Male Citizens. This microfilm is at my local library. It contains a list of males over 21 years of age. The census taker in Loudon did a great job because he included their ages and race. Many other census takers in TN simply wrote done that the man was over 21. 3. The 1880 Mortality Schedule. This is on microfilm at the library 4. Mr. Dan Essex is typing up the information from the WPA book on cemeteries. He is also updating the cemeteries. Many thanks to Dan for his help. If you have any documents that you would like to share with others, please let me know. Please feel free to send a bio of your ancestors to be posted in the site. I am glad that I started this list because it provides me with a means of keeping you apprized of what's happening in Loudon County, TNGenWeb. 1. Sons of Temperance
    2. Hi everyone Has anyone heard of this group. I could find very little info. online about them. I found two references to MO. and there were more obscure ones concerning help org. for problem drinkers. However, there was no specific reference to the org. and its particulars. I have two pages in my notes about the group. This is from "Philadelphia, Tennessee, Old and New, 1822-1964. There are hand written page numbers on the pages: 55 and 56. (This was sent to me so I am unsure what this is referenced to. I believe it is a book, if I am wrong please let me know) ".....on Nov. 13th, 1851, the Jones division of the Sons of Temperance was born." This was in Philadelphia. "The main objective of the organization was to encourage those who did't drink alcoholic beverages, to never do so, and those who did drink.......to refrain from doing so. No one may be admitted to the organization without signing a pledge of total abstinence." There were a lot of rules and regulations.
