    1. 1910 Census - Odd listing for THOMAS/CALLOWAY/GRIMES
    2. RChory
    3. I found my ggrandmother on the 1910 census, but it's very odd to me. Wondering if anyone else has ever come across a similar situation. Allie JACKSON m. Calaway THOMAS. Calaway died in 1907. In 1910, Allie is living in the household of her son-in-law, Frank GRIMES, 20, but she is listed as Allie CALLOWAY, 44, along with her four small children (all names & ages that match my grandfather & his siblings). I would have thought this name-switch from Thomas to Calloway was a mistake by the census taker (maybe hearing that her late husband was Calaway & putting that down as surname). But next-door is Henry CALLOWAY, who I know to be Allie THOMAS' son, Henry THOMAS. Why, after her husband's death, would she change her surname from THOMAS to his first name, Calaway?? Our family has always known them with the surname Thomas. Any connections or ideas? Ann

    2. Hello Everyone, My ISP has changed ownership. In the last couple of weeks, we have been getting emails from them stating that the change-over would not be a problem. However, since they changed over on Wednesday night, none of my emails work, including TGWLoudon@freeman.usit.com and loudon@tngenweb.org. Nor do any of the databases for Loudon County which reside on my server: Marriages, Surnames, etc. I don't know when this problem will be resolved. Anyway, you can temporarily reach me at TNancestors@aol.com until then. I just uploaded Districts 2 & 3 of the Enumeration of Male Citizens. They are linked from http://www.rootsweb.com/~tnloudon/census/1891e1.html Happy Hunting, Mitzi

    2. Is there anyone out there that can do a cemetery listing or deaths of Louden county to see if you can find an Asa J. Howell? His sons left Louden for TX after his death and they are found in TX in 1900, so I am assuming he died probably somewhere between 1880 when he was on the census there and 1900. Thanks in advance!
