    3. Dear Julia, Thanks so much for the observation. Upon closer review, it is the enumerators notation that makes the L's look like F's. It clearly is "Sallie." Since Clayborne H. Isom & Parthenia S. Parkes do have a daughter, Sarah, who is a year older than Arnealy (Amelia) V. "Nellie" Isom, it certainly fits that George W. Crabtree is the son-in-law of Clayborne H. Isom. Now then, for those of you who don't have access to the original census record (1900 LCT census, 11th Civil District, HH 94-94), there are notations made, apparently, by the enumerator next to each head of household. Some of these notations are right over some of the names. The notation next to G. H. Crabtree's name is "4-1" above a handwritten line, and "Rf-4" below the line. The next head of household (S. M. Ridner) has the same notation: "4-1" over "Rf-4." However the next head of household (H. F. Crabtree--actually, Henry Lafayette Crabtree, George W. Crabtree's brother) has "7-1" over "Rf-7." Would anyone have any idea as to what these notations mean? James L. Danley Vista, CA jldanley@sbcglobal.net
