James A couple of notes that I have in my records might be of interest to you. First Parenthia Parks Isom is the daughter of William Parks and Mary C Thurston. My records show the Isom marriage as her only marriage (no Tuckers as far as I can see). Her daughter Tranquilla did marry John Tucker who lived two door down from her family during the 1880 census. I have some documents that use the name "Melia" for "Amelia" in other Isom relatives so I suppose that could be the case here. I also have an unknown "Crabtree" married to Amelia Valentine Isom's sister Sarah (Sallie) but that is from genealogy sheets I received from Billy Isom so it is not my original research. If Sarah did marry a Crabtree it would have been after 1900 and there is a better chance of finding a marriage license in that time period. The Kerr Genealogy worksheets from the Fayetteville, TN library show Charlie C. Crabtree born 1895 as son of George W. Crabtree and Amelia V. Isom. Again, not my original work but someone from closer to the actual site than I am. Hope that helps. Son Aug 1895 4 TN TN TN Isom, Saffir (?) S-in-law May 1857 43 TN GA TN I believe this couple to be George W. Crabtree (b. 1853; d. 17 Jun 1926) and Nellie Isom who married on 13 Jan 1887 in LCT. And their son, Charly C. Crabtree, to be the subject of the above obituary. However, I am trying to reconcile Charles C. Crabtree's mother's name. The LCT marriage record has George W. Crabtree's wife as "Nelie Isom." The 1900 LCT census has her as "M. V." The obituary has her as "Mrs. Arnealy Crabtree." I can see Nellie being a nickname for Arnealy. But where does the "M. V." come in? Or is the "M" another nickname, "Melia?" Now then the 1900 LCT census record identifies Saffir Isom as George W. Crabtree's "SON-in-law." I believe that to be an error and that he might really be a brother-in-law OR possibly a stepson (more later). I have tried locating Arnealy "Nellie" (M. V.) Isom and/or possible brother, Saffir Isom, in the 1860, 1870 or 1880 census records. The closest I find for her is Amelia V. Isom, the daughter of Clayborne H. Isom/Isham and Parthenia S. Parkes (married previously to a TURKER or TUCKER). In 1860 she is listed as "Amelia" (age 3) and in 1870 she is listed as "A. V" (age 14). The fact that she has the middle initial "V." is encouraging. HOWEVER, there is no brother, Saffir Isom, in either census: 1860 LCT Census (11th Civil District) HH 1190-1106 C. H. V. 14 TN Could it be that Saffir Isom is neither a brother-in-law or son-in-law of George W. Crabtree, but rather a stepson? Could Arnealy "Nellie" (M. V.) have been married previously to an ISOM? Any information that might confirm that Charles C. Crabtree is, in fact, the son of George W. Crabtree; that "Arnealy," "Nellie," and "M. V." are the same person would be greatly appreciated. And any information that confirms Arnealy "Nellie" (M. V.) parents and Saffir Isom's parents would be greatly appreciated. Thanks! James L.
