List members, Let us not forget what the census is for. It is not for genealogy or knowing how many TV's or bathrooms one has. It is to determine the district lines for Congressmen to represent that district or how many Congressmen a state must have. There are districts that change in 10 years. There may be more or less people living in an individual district therefore lines may be redrawn. Or there may be more or less people in a state, so the state may lose or gain a Congressman. By not answering the 2010 census could throw off the count and one may not wish for their district to be incorporated with another or lose a Congressman. This is the reason I believe that the 2010 census should be kept on micro film. It would be a paper trail that would show if fraud was used to over count or under count. Using the census for genealogy is like icing on a cake. A wonderful side benefit for us. Census records are released to the public ever 12 years. The 1930 census is complete & on line at several genealogy sites for a cost. The 1890 census is the one that is incomplete. The 1900 & 1910 census are damaged on some pages. The way to try to get the 2010 census on microfilm is to contact your Senator and Congressman using genealogy only as a side talking point. If you do not fill out the form & mail it in a census worker will come to your house. I am going to make a copy of my filled out & signed census form for a paper trail. I may be the only one :-( One thing may happen. The Mormon Church may step in to microfilm the census, if they can. If they pay to do so I am sure there will be more than one Congressman who will be happy to get in on that deal. Julia
