I am planning to up-date to 2010 this month. An e-mail to Ancestory.com assured me that my old program was adaptable and merge able. Just got through installing 2010, literally minutes ago, and it will ask you if want to open the old ones into the new program. Worked like a dream. I just got a new computer and the files were on it but not FTM.
