Gene, Here I go again but with some answers and questions. Susan E. Shull b. 7 Jan 1844 almost same time Shull family arrived in TN. Her mother died in June of that year and father Daniel B. Shull having hard time caring for three young children even with a slave cook. Daniel married 2nd time to a cousin of wife Julia, named Mary Polly Clark 1846 LCT (in marriage book). That lasted until 1850 when Mary became ill and died in child birth, both she and baby. This being 1850 and a census year they all show in Shull HH and Susan shows in Sally's HH because she was looking after 6 year old susan without even a step- mother. Now comes the question, if Sally's house is two houses away from Shull house, where were they located in 1850? I know by 1852 after Daniel married a 3rd time to Sarah L. Higgins, they lived in the shull home that Daniel and his slaves built north of Belleville near Chestnut Ridge, I trust the counties were same as now. In deeds and court documents I find Daniel owned and sold lots of land so I don't know where ever they lived. My dad went west and left it all to you and T have never ben there to my regrets.
